{"id":156609,"date":"2022-01-05T17:27:51","date_gmt":"2022-01-05T22:27:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/?p=156609"},"modified":"2022-01-05T17:27:51","modified_gmt":"2023-09-08T00:23:25","slug":"concealed-carrier-shoots-two-alleged-carjackers-both-in-critical-condition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/concealed-carrier-shoots-two-alleged-carjackers-both-in-critical-condition\/","title":{"rendered":"Concealed Carrier Shoots Two Alleged Carjackers, Both in Critical Condition\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"854\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/abc7.com\/video\/embed\/?pid=11425340\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two alleged carjackers are in critical condition this week following a run-in with a Philadelphia Lyft driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ride-share employee, 38, was rear-ended twice by the armed suspects around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, according to local news affiliate <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7.com\/philadelphia-carjacking-philly-shooting-crime-violence\/11425575\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"concealed-carrier-shoots-two-alleged-carjackers-both-in-critical-condition\" title=\"Concealed Carrier Shoots Two Alleged Carjackers, Both in Critical Condition\u00a0\">ABC 7<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the driver got out of his car to face the suspects, one of them pointed a shotgun in his direction while attempting to take control of the driver\u2019s vehicle.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/lyft-fires-gun-owning-driver\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"concealed-carrier-shoots-two-alleged-carjackers-both-in-critical-condition\" title=\"Concealed Carrier Shoots Two Alleged Carjackers, Both in Critical Condition\u00a0\">Lyft Fires Gun-Owning Driver Who Refused to Be Carjack Victim<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fearing for his life, the driver, who also happens to be a licensed concealed carrier, shot the suspect in the chest. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second suspect, who crashed his vehicle into the victim&#8217;s, then attempted to run down the concealed carrier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The concealed carrier opened fire, hitting the second suspect in the rib cage.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though the wounded suspects fled the scene separately in each vehicle, they were apprehended by police a short while later. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both were taken to local hospitals and were listed in critical condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the concealed carrier, he was not injured in the altercation. &nbsp;However, a question remains about his future working as a driver for Lyft. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rideshare app is known to look down on those who exercise their right to keep and bear arms while driving for the service.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, Lyft fired a single mother from Cleveland last January after she lawfully defended herself with a firearm from an alleged carjacker. &nbsp;A spokesperson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcax.com\/2021\/01\/13\/cleveland-lyft-driver-fired-for-admitting-to-firing-legally-owned-gun-during-attempted-carjacking\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"concealed-carrier-shoots-two-alleged-carjackers-both-in-critical-condition\" title=\"Concealed Carrier Shoots Two Alleged Carjackers, Both in Critical Condition\u00a0\">justified the decision by pointing to Lyft&#8217;s<\/a> &#8220;No weapons&#8221; policy.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/ride-sharing-company-lyft-offering-free-transpo-anti-gun-rallies\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"concealed-carrier-shoots-two-alleged-carjackers-both-in-critical-condition\" title=\"Concealed Carrier Shoots Two Alleged Carjackers, Both in Critical Condition\u00a0\">Ride-Sharing Company Lyft Offering Free Transpo to Anti-Gun Rallies<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Lyft has also supported anti-gun causes.&nbsp; In 2018, it offered free rides to student activists attending anti-gun rallies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019d be honored to support your work with free Lyft rides to March for Our Lives rallies across the country on March 24 (please remember, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.),\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/ride-sharing-company-lyft-offering-free-transpo-anti-gun-rallies\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"concealed-carrier-shoots-two-alleged-carjackers-both-in-critical-condition\" title=\"Concealed Carrier Shoots Two Alleged Carjackers, Both in Critical Condition\u00a0\">said<\/a> the San Francisco-based company at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With respect to this Philadelphia incident, the company told local media, \u201cSafety is fundamental to Lyft, and the incident described is deeply troubling.
