SIG Sauer and Outlaw Ordnance Customizations are working with the Best Defense Foundation to honor the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor with the Pearl Harbor Commemorative three pistol set. The three 1911s of the set are the USS Arizona Commemorative Pistol, the USS Oklahoma Commemorative Pistol and the Pearl Harbor Commemorative Pistol. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It was truly an honor to create these custom pistols and we are humbled to have the opportunity to partner with the Best Defense Foundation to salute these men and women of the greatest generation,” said SIG Executive Vice President Tom Taylor. “The foundation is providing any World War II veteran that wants a measure of closure the opportunity to return to their battlefield and we hope these pistols will bring recognition to their efforts.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“From the shores of Normandy to Pearl Harbor, the foundation has made it their mission to honor these veterans\u2019 sacrifice and we are forever thankful for their dedication to that mission,” he said.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 1911 is a natural choice as a canvas for the three Pearl Harbor designs, with so many 1911s in service with all branches of the military throughout the Second World War. All three have a matte nickel and battleship gray Cerakote finish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All are of course chambered for .45 ACP, with a gold bead Novak front sight and serrated Wilson Combat rear sight. They carry teak grips salvaged from the deck of the USS North Carolina, with one-of-a-kind engravings by Chad Schumacher at Allegory Goods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The USS Arizona Commemorative Pistol remembers the USS Arizona with engravings depicting the moment she was hit by Japanese torpedo bombers, detonating a munitions magazine, which violently exploded and sank the ship, taking 1,177 officers and crewmen with her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The USS Oklahoma Commemorative Pistol depicts the USS Oklahoma which, during the Attack on Pearl Harbor, Japanese torpedo bomber airplanes hit her hull causing her to capsize. A total of 429 crew died as a result, while a lucky few jumped to safety and were rescued through hatches and holes drilled in the side of her hull. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pearl Harbor Commemorative Pistol engravings mark the December 7, 1941 morning attack where Japanese warplanes descended on the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, pulling the U.S. into the war in the aftermath of the “Day that will live in infamy,” famously described by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
