When this unrebutted history is added to the long tradition of public-carry regulations, there can be no doubt that New York\u2019s law is constitutional,\u201d Everytown writes in its brief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The challenge to New York\u2019s may-issue standard was filed by the New York State Rifle &amp; Pistol Association and is backed by the National Rifle Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/goa-saf-submit-amicus-briefs-on-key-supreme-court-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"everytown-files-amicus-brief-for-scotus-case-supports-restrictive-ccw-standard\" title=\"Everytown Files Amicus Brief for SCOTUS Case, Supports Restrictive CCW Standard\">GOA, SAF Submit Amicus Briefs on Key Supreme Court Case<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cutting to the heart of the matter, the NRA believes that \u201claw-abiding citizens should not be required to prove they are in peril to receive the government\u2019s permission to exercise\u201d 2A rights.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everytown, however, believes allowing citizens to bear arms in the way the Founders and Framers intended is a \u201cdistorted telling of history.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn this latest attempt to force their dangerous views on the Second Amendment on the rest of the country, opponents of strong gun laws are relying on a distorted telling of history,\u201d said Eric Tirschwell, executive director of Everytown Law, the litigation team affiliated with Everytown for Gun Safety.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe last time this NRA affiliate argued before the Supreme Court, just two years ago, it was unsuccessful in advancing its extreme and dangerous position,\u201d he continued. \u201cWhile the court\u2019s makeup has changed since then, the Second Amendment has not.
