Transmitting cameras used for private security or agricultural purposes would be excepted, but any use designed \u201cto take, attempt to take, or aid in the attempt to take big game\u201d would be outlawed. Private landowners would not be excepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cameras that store images on the device would still be legal, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=US2Nj1tYHHA\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunt365-utah-wildlife-board-pulls-trail-cam-ban\" title=\"Utah Wildlife Board Pulls Trail Cam Ban Proposal One Day After Public Comment Period Begins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to<\/a> Colby Jones, the Big Game Coordinator for Utah\u2019s Division of Wildlife Resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/get-a-jump-on-next-years-buck-with-the-fusion-wireless-trail-cam\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunt365-utah-wildlife-board-pulls-trail-cam-ban\" title=\"Utah Wildlife Board Pulls Trail Cam Ban Proposal One Day After Public Comment Period Begins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Get a Jump on Next Year\u2019s Buck with the Fusion Wireless Trail Cam<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Utah\u2019s DWR claims it conducted a survey of 6,000 big game hunters and determined that 62% oppose the use of transmitting trail cameras, which it defined as \u201ccameras that transmit images and footage in real time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The board also decided to delay a vote on the other big game proposals scheduled to be considered on September 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of those proposals would have outlawed the use of night vision optics 48 hours before and after any big game hunt. The ban would include night-vision devices, thermal imaging devices, infrared-imaged devices and \u201cother electronic devices that enhance the visible and non-visible light spectrum.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe just wanted everybody to be on the same footing during the hunt,\u201d Jones said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/hunt365-mississippi-poachers-fined-banned\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunt365-utah-wildlife-board-pulls-trail-cam-ban\" title=\"Utah Wildlife Board Pulls Trail Cam Ban Proposal One Day After Public Comment Period Begins\">Four Mississippi Poachers Fined, Banned from Hunting<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As with the trail cam ban, the board believes the proposal is in line with hunter sentiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOverwhelmingly, the sentiment is that using [night vision devices] does not align with&nbsp;fair chase, and there&#8217;s a strong sentiment that the animal needs to have a chance \u2014 and fair chase is just that,\u201d Jones said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DWR says that both bans are necessary in light of changes in both the night vision and cellular trail cam markets. Both technologies used to be cost-prohibitive for most hunters, but now they\u2019re readily available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese weren\u2019t popular in hunting until recent years,\u201d Jones said of night vision optics. \u201cBut as prices drop and they become more affordable, it\u2019s starting to become popular.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The board has not announced when it plans to vote on these
