It appears the four intruders did not expect the homeowner to be armed. <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Not one, not two, not three, but four home intruders tried to break into a Phoenix home earlier this month, according to the Phoenix Police Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The homeowner, who has not been identified, was notified of the intruders\u2019 presence via their motion-activated surveillance cameras, and they were able to retrieve a firearm and shoot at the suspects as soon as they kicked in the door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As four males, some of who appear to be armed in the video, kicked in the front door, the homeowner discharged a gun toward them,” stated<\/a> Sgt. Ann Justus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SECURITY CAMERA WARNS HOMEOWNER OF ARMED ROBBERS

On 8\/12, near 36th Dr\/Pinnacle Peak Rd around 3:40am a homeowner was alerted by his security camera that someone was outside his door. As 4 suspects kicked in his front door, he fired rounds towards them. In the video, the men can be seen emerging from a silver or gray four-door vehicle and approaching the home while the car remains parked on the street with its lights on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the suspects, who appears to be wearing black latex gloves, spots a camera on the porch and tries to cover it with his hand. He covers it for only a few seconds until he is joined by another suspect, when he appears to remove a handgun from his pocket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, the two suspects kick in the door and try to enter while the other two follow behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As soon as they step across the threshold, they jump backwards and run away as debris and smoke fly around them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s unclear if any of them were wounded in the shootout, but at least one of them failed to get in the getaway car as it drove away. Phoenix PD includes footage from another house that appears to show the suspect running down the street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police still haven\u2019t apprehended the suspected armed robbers. Anyone with any information is being asked to call the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (480-TESTIGO for Spanish).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The north Phoenix neighborhood where the incident took place does not appear to be a high-crime area relative to other parts of the city, according to the LexisNexis Community Crime Map<\/a>. But there have been several incidents of criminal violence in the last few months, including an armed robbery, a sexual assault, and several burglaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
