<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Chipman should not serve as director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a recent opinion piece on Fox News<\/a>, Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) laid it out pretty succinctly as to the reason, \u201cConfirming Chipman would be the most significant victory for gun control activists in decades, which is why they are pushing so hard for him to be confirmed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Letting Chipman run the ATF would be putting the proverbial fox in charge of the hen house.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As GunsAmerica previously reported<\/a>, Chipman currently serves as the senior policy advisor for the anti-gun organization Giffords<\/a>.  This guy literally makes his living pushing policies to restrict the 2A rights of law-abiding citizens.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from maybe Shannon Watts and Michael Bloomberg, the Biden Administration couldn\u2019t have selected a more anti-gun prospect for the position. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Tillis noted, \u201cwhen advocating for background checks, Chipman implied that background checks could be used as a way to \u2018arrest people before committing crimes.\u2019 On top of that, Chipman has said under oath that the federal government should require the registration of all existing \u2018assault weapons\u2019 and ban the future manufacture and sale of \u2018assault weapons,\u2019 yet during a hearing to consider his nomination before the Senate Judiciary Committee he refused to define an \u2018assault weapon.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chipman refused to define an \u201cassault weapon,\u201d Tillis posited, because he wants to create a regulatory environment where the goalposts are always moving, thus the list of banned firearms has the potential to expand indefinitely.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd the fact that Chipman supports a national firearms registry for these lawful weapons is extremely concerning and could open the door to a national registry for all guns in this country,\u201d added the Republican senator from North Carolina.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As extreme as Chipman\u2019s positions are, what\u2019s even more unsettling is his apparent contempt for gun owners.  Like many D.C. insiders, he has a \u201crights for me, but not for thee,\u201d mentality.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In one interview, Chipman likened first-time gun buyers to \u201cTiger King<\/a>,\u201d saying they are not protecting their loved ones with their purchase rather they are \u201cputting their families in danger.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf you did go out and buy a gun, I would secure that gun locked and unloaded and hide it behind the cans of tuna and beef jerky you have stored in a cabinet,\u201d he said, mockingly.  \u201cOnly bring that out if the zombies start to appear.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s ironic about his \u201cadvice,\u201d is that reports surfaced recently that Chipman may have lost his duty gun<\/a> while he worked as a field agent for the agency.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s also this bizarre clip during a 2012 appearance on MSNBC\u2019s \u201cHardball with Chris Matthews,\u201d where Chipman says the Secret Service\u2019s \u201cuse of guns\u201d is \u201cnot necessary.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
