Open carry is a threat to public safety and armed extremism demonstrates the folly of open carry laws.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open carry is not a threat to public safety.\u00a0 Open carry laws have been around for decades in states around the country and they\u2019ve never led to the Wild-Wild-West-style bloodshed that critics predicted. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not to mention the fact that banning open carry is infringement.\u00a0 As GunsAmerica referenced before, even <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalcommons.law.yale.edu\/cgi\/viewcontent.cgi?article=5626&amp;context=ylj\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"everytowns-answer-to-armed-extremism-ban-open-carry\" title=\"Everytown\u2019s Answer to \u2018Armed Extremism\u2019: Ban Open Carry\">The Yale Law Journal <\/a>agrees on this!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out Jonathan Meltzer\u2019s rather exhaustive 2014 analysis entitled, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/digitalcommons.law.yale.edu\/cgi\/viewcontent.cgi?article=5626&amp;context=ylj\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"everytowns-answer-to-armed-extremism-ban-open-carry\" title=\"Everytown\u2019s Answer to \u2018Armed Extremism\u2019: Ban Open Carry\">Open Carry for All: Heller and Our Nineteenth-Century Second Amendment.<\/a>\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Feel free to read all <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalcommons.law.yale.edu\/cgi\/viewcontent.cgi?article=5626&amp;context=ylj\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"everytowns-answer-to-armed-extremism-ban-open-carry\" title=\"Everytown\u2019s Answer to \u2018Armed Extremism\u2019: Ban Open Carry\">42 pages<\/a>, but the quote from the abstract is telling, \u201cSuch a historical examination\u2014guided by the sources, methodology, and logic of Heller\u2014yields two important conclusions: (1) the Second Amendment guarantees a right to carry outside the home, and (2) it guarantees only a right to carry openly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can disagree about the \u201conly\u201d part in Meltzer\u2019s reading but the larger point remains.&nbsp;
