The Dept. of Justice announced this week the formation of \u201cfirearms trafficking strike forces\u201d to help combat violent crime in major U.S. cities.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The five units will focus on \u201cillegal gun trafficking in significant firearms trafficking corridors\u201d to stem the flow of firearms into New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area and Washington, D.C. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Designated U.S. Attorneys will lead the teams in conjunction with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), state and local law enforcement agencies.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWorking with our local partners to tackle violent crime is one of the Justice Department\u2019s most important responsibilities,\u201d said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland in a press release obtained by GunsAmerica.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToday, the department is taking another concrete step to address violent crime and illegal firearms trafficking,\u201d he continued.  \u201cOur firearms trafficking strike forces will investigate and disrupt the networks that channel crime guns into our communities with tragic consequences. This effort reflects our shared commitment to keep communities safe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Violent crime is certainly on the rise.  In New York City, shootings were up 73 percent in May of 2021 <\/a>from the previous year. Chicago is on pace to set a record for most killings<\/a> in any year over the last nine, with 294 homicides through June 12th.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said this week that the president will hold a press conference on Wednesday to discuss what he is \u201cgoing to do to help address\u201d the problem, especially gun-related violence, \u201cas we\u2019ve seen around the country it is a concern of many Americans.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Democratically-run cities with stringent gun control are struggling the most with this crime wave. Is that a coincidence? Or could it be that they are reaping what they sow?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defunding the police<\/a>, decriminalizing certain offenses (including theft, see video above), releasing violent offenders<\/a>, making it impossible for law-abiding citizens to defend themselves<\/a> all sound great when progressive politicians want to pay lip service to “woke” social justice warriors, but in the real world, they have deadly consequences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But maybe a high body count is the result they’re actually seeking with those asinine policies. Manufacture a crisis and don’t let it go to waste<\/a> — exploit it!!!<\/em> After all, it’s much easier to pass more gun control, grow the Nanny State, and create things like federal “strike force” units when there is blood in the streets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because if anything encapsulates the prevailing mindset nowadays, it’s this<\/a>, \u201cThe average man does not want to be free. He simply wants to be safe.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
