General Scott Miller is a shooter. Seen before with a modernized, practical-tactical 1911, it appears the high-ranking officer has switched to a late model Glock with some sweet upgrades. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Miller’s sidearms have made news in the past, not just for their uniqueness, but because the General actually drew his 1911 during a brazen insider attack in Kandahar in 2018 that killed controversial Afghan National Police Lieutenant General Abdul Raziq and wounded two Americans,” writes The Drive’s Tyler Rogoway<\/a>. “Miller was not among the casualties.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rumor has it that it’s a Gen 5 Glock 19 set up for use with an optic. He has been photographed with the pistol in a number of different configurations but all of them seem to include a red dot sight, probably a Leupold DeltaPoint Pro with a CQ adjustable rear backup sight installed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has an extended, threaded barrel, seen with either a thread protector or a Zev Technologies Pro Compensator V2 installed, and a chunky extended magazine baseplate. It looks like he’s also added a mag funnel in some of the photos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And who knows what’s going on inside that handgun. Does it have a flashy flat-faced race trigger? Does the General approve of enhanced disconnectors, and if so, whose? Ghost? Lantac? Maybe someday we’ll know. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While much of the U.S. military is using the SIG Sauer P320 in its M17 and M18 configurations, special units that have adopted Glock pistols have chosen to continue to field them. It seems like Miller is keeping it both modern and old-school with his latest choice of handgun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For 1911 aficionados, don’t worry, he still has his 1911, and does carry it depending on the situation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGeneral Miller carries the weapon which makes the most sense from a METT-T (Mission, Enemy, Terrain, Troops and Time) perspective,\u201d Army Col. William \u201cSonny\u201d Leggett told Task and Purpose<\/a>. \u201cGeneral Miller, in Farah Province in 2019, was armed with a M1911.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
