Sig is releasing its first conversion kit for the MPX, and they picked an unexpected caliber. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The wait is finally over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After years of customer requests, Sig Sauer has announced the imminent release of a .25 Auto conversion kit for their world-famous MPX platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt Sig Sauer, we\u2019re always looking for ways to maintain our position as a leader in this industry,\u201d a Sig Sauer spokesperson told GunsAmerica in an exclusive interview. \u201cThat\u2019s exactly what we\u2019re doing with this next evolution of our MPX platform. The .25 Auto has been underappreciated for years, and now it\u2019s getting its day in the sun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"BREAKING!<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The spokesperson pointed out that the .25 Auto has a feather-light recoil, and its small size makes it easier to pack than its bigger brothers. Plus, it\u2019s still available during the ammo shortage, and anti-gun politicians are unlikely to ban it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the perfect cartridge for the apocalypse,\u201d the Sig spokesperson said. \u201cWe\u2019re amazed we didn\u2019t think of this earlier.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The centerfire cartridge can be reloaded, but Sig Ammunition will also be ramping up production of the .25 Auto and expect to be able to exceed demand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"BREAKING!<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Conversion kits will include a .25 Auto barrel, bolt, magazine, and recoil springs. Converting to the .25 Auto will be a simple matter of swapping all the included parts and loading up the 50-round magazine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sig has yet to release an official MSPR, but sources who spoke on condition of anonymity estimated the kits would retail for around $1,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe .25 Auto was designed by John Browning, who was a total boss,\u201d Sig said in a press release. \u201cBrowning developed the centerfire cartridge to fit in a micro self-defense handgun, but we thought, \u2018Why not go bigger?\u2019 The MPX is the ultimate self-defense firearm, which makes it a perfect pair with the .25 Auto.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cooking along at 814 feet-per-second (fps), the .25 Auto delivers a 46-grain projectile with whopping 68 foot-pounds (ft.-lbs.) of energy at the muzzle and maintains a flat trajectory out to all legal self-defense distances. If that doesn\u2019t sound impressive, consider this: a .22 Long Rifle delivers about 128 ft.-lbs. of energy at the muzzle, making the .25 Auto pretty close to as powerful as the legendary double-deuce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plus, with a proprietary 50-round magazine standard in every conversion kit, users can throw a lot of lead downrange in a hurry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"BREAKING!<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEveryone these days is so obsessed with \u2018knock-down power,\u2019 with bigger bullets moving faster,\u201d the Sig spokesperson told us. \u201cBut what about smaller bullets moving slower? With the .25 Auto conversion kit, users can send 50 tiny bullets down range like a swarm of angry mosquitoes. Bad guys won\u2019t know what hit them. Literally.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conversion kits aren\u2019t currently available for purchase, but considering the company\u2019s reputation for the timely delivery of new products, we expect the first shipments to be arriving at gun stores soon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you haven’t already purchased an MPX, Sig offers a variety of configurations<\/a> to fit your pistol-caliber carbine needs. Chambered exclusively in 9mm (until today!), these firearms feature internal recoil systems, folding stocks, Timney triggers, reliable semi-auto actions, and 30-round magazines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"BREAKING!<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Levi Sim gave high marks to the ultra-compact Copperhead model in his full review<\/a>, and Jeff Cramblit called the MPX the “king of the PCC’s<\/a>” in his write-up. The new MPX K features a Timney trigger, a threaded barrel, and an M-Lok handguard, and True Pearce got a chance to test it out at the 2020 SHOT Show<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
