<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SIG Sauer is expanding its Tread series of AR-pattern firearms with the new SIG M400 Tread Predator<\/a>. Ideal for hunting and varminting, the Tread Predator was designed for outdoor enthusiasts in need of a small-bore rifle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Tread Predator is a two-tone rifle with an Elite Jungle Cerakote green finish on the upper and lower receivers as well as the handguard. The stock, pistol grip, controls, and small parts are all black. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the hunter-centric features, besides the green finish, include a new profile handguard, fixed, adjustable stock, included blocked 5-round magazine and thread protector-capped barrel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tread Predator is built around a 16-inch stainless steel barrel, chambered for 5.56 NATO with a 1-in-8 twist. The thread protector can be replaced with other standard muzzle devices in places where they’re allowed for hunting, and SIG includes a taper adapter for their Taper-Lok suppressors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new handguard is designed with flats on all four sides with modular M-Lok slots running down the length of the rail. The standard model has a full-length 15-inch handguard that completely shrouds the barrel up to the threaded shoulder at the muzzle, with an available 13-inch version sold separately. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flat-sided profile of the handguard is designed to offer improved stability when shooting off a bag or squaring up against a tree, while ensuring compatibility with a wide range of bipods and shooting sticks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tread Predator has a fixed, adjustable stock that offers a range in length of pull as well as an adjustable cheek riser that can be set to line up with the tallest of scope mounts and scopes with big objective lenses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These rifles are designed to be used with optics and don’t ship with iron sights. This isn’t exactly a deal-breaker since many hunters will want to use a fixed- or variable-power riflescope in the field. Of course, SIG does offer an alloy front sight adapter for anyone looking to keep things simple. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other handy features carrying over from the original Tread design include ambidextrous controls and quick detach sling sockets on both sides of the lower receiver. The stock also provides a set of sling sockets and additional sling points can be added anywhere along thanks to the M-Lok slots. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rounding things out, the SIG Tread Predator has a dry weight of 7.5 pounds, with an overall length of just over 35 inches long. The Tread Predator is compatible with all of the Tread accessories and the Romeo and Tango lines of red dot sights and riflescopes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
