You love Chick-fil-a, but do you love Chick-fil-a enough to defend it with deadly force?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A robbery suspect was captured and detained at an Atlanta Chick-fil-a on Tuesday by several of the restaurant\u2019s patrons, one of whom fired at least two shots in self-defense as he tried to subdue the suspect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concealed carrier, who has not been named and is not expected to face charges, told CBS4 Atlanta that the suspect pointed his gun at him as the Good Samaritan attempted to block the suspect\u2019s exit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not a decision you want to be faced with. It all happened so fast. It made me think of what officers go through. It\u2019s not something to feel good about,\u201d he told the outlet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police say the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Willie Gloston IV, walked into the restaurant around 3:00 p.m. with a firearm and demanded money. The clerk behind the counter fled to the back of the store, and Gloston tried to escape. It\u2019s unclear whether he was able to obtain any cash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several restaurant patrons stepped in and tried to stop Gloston when he exited the building into the parking lot. Shots were fired during the course of the altercation, but no one was injured, and the Good Samaritans were able to hold Gloston until police arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe would prefer that people be a good witness to a crime. Let us know who the perpetrator was, what they looked like, things like that. But we understand that there are going to be times when people feel the need to intervene,\u201d Atlanta PD spokesman Sgt. John Chafee told CBS46 Atlanta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gloston has been charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during a crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police have released no further details about the incident. It\u2019s not clear what prompted the concealed carrier to shoot or why none of his shots hit Gloston or any bystanders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lack of charges against the Good Samaritan indicate he may have had justifiable cause to fire his weapon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a similar incident<\/a> earlier this year, a Phoenix woman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after she fired at a robbery suspect fleeing a hardware store. One of her shots struck a store employee, and he was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In another case<\/a>, an Oregon pastor was cited for trying to shoot the tires of a suspected robber\u2019s getaway vehicle. No one was injured, but the pastor was still cited for reckless endangerment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ll update the story if more details emerge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
