The company that purchased Remington late last year is getting ready to re-open and re-launch as early as March 1, 2021 — in a couple of weeks! The company, the Roundhill Group, acquired a federal firearms license and has set up a website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The website is RemArms.com<\/a>. Company representatives said that the first firearm to go back into production will be the Model 870 shotgun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’ll be the 870, that\u2019ll be the first gun,” said Roundhill partner Richmond Italia. The new owners hope to bring back at least 200 employees to their Ilion facility in New York, eventually employing or re-employing as many as a thousand workers at the original location. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As for the balance, we will just confirm that the others have not just been delayed or lost in the mail and then we will continue to offer employment to fill all 200 positions,” Italia told the Times-Telegram<\/a>. “Our hopes are to consolidate in Ilion and go back to an 800-employee facility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“That number is highly contingent on our negotiations with the county and the state of New York, and, of course, the union,” he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We’re deep in negotations with the state, trying to come up with some sort of compromise to build a new facility,” Italia said in another interview<\/a>. “If we are able to come to terms and we do build a new facility, we will consolidate everything in New York, which will bring the company back to 800 to 1,000 employees, eventually.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Probably the biggest concern among Remington’s customer base is the future quality of these renowned products. After all, it was under a different capital management group that really caused the company to come apart in the first place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roundhill partner Jeff Edwards has some reassuring words about that. “We have the means,” he said. “We have the passion and we\u2019re going to give them the tools so they can go do their jobs and stay out of their way.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It just seemed like the right thing to do,” Edwards told All Outdoor<\/a>. “I grew up with Remington products in my hands, and I\u2019m just really passionate about the product and the people they have.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“They suffered from, I hate to say it, but poor ownership,” he continued. “They\u2019d fix one problem and then a new tidal wave of financial burden would come. It\u2019s an iconic American brand, one of the oldest, continuously operating manufacturing companies in our country, and they make great stuff if they are given the resources and the time to do it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it really is too early to know how a re-forged Remington will perform, it’s not too early to have some hope for the future of the historic American manufacturer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
