Everytown for Gun Safety is spending $60 million on this election cycle<\/a>, $5 million of which will be in the form of targeted TV and digital attack ads (see above) designed to unseat U.S. Sens. Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Joni Ernst (R-IA).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s no secret why the organization wants \u2018em to pack their bags come November.  They refuse to do the bidding of the gun-grabbing oligarch who primarily funds Everytown: Michael Rubens Bloomberg.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe clear majority of voters in Iowa and North Carolina want stronger gun laws and deserve to know that Senators Joni Ernst and Thom Tillis have ignored the gun violence crisis while receiving millions in support from the NRA, an organization with so many allegations of corruption that it’s facing potential dissolution,\u201d said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety in an email blast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSenators Ernst and Tillis may be beholden to special interests, but they ultimately answer to the voters, who will make their voices heard this November,\u201d he continued. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not sure what poll or survey Feinblatt is referring to, to confidently suggest that a \u201cclear majority\u201d of Iowa and Tar Heel State voters want the federal government to enact laws that infringe on their right to keep and bear arms.\u00a0 But it would be interesting to see it and how the numbers play out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because the devil really is in the details.  First off, how are the questions being phrased to the respondents?  Do you support background checks on all gun purchases and transfers?<\/em>  Is very different than asking, Do you want to send private gun owners to prison for loaning or selling firearms to hunting buddies, neighbors and family members?  <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we\u2019re talking about \u201cuniversal background checks\u201d that\u2019s really what\u2019s at stake.  Criminalizing transfers and sales between private citizens. Most polls out there hide the truth and neglect to mention that licensed gun dealers are already required by law to run background checks at the point of sale.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond that, one can make a very compelling case that Americans are as interested in protecting 2A rights as they are in controlling gun ownership.  Pew Research crunched the numbers back in the Fall of 2019 and found the split to be roughly that of a coin flip (47% to 53%).  And that was before we found ourselves in the midst of a global pandemic and widespread civil unrest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, things have radically changed since Pew examined public sentiment on gun control.\u00a0 To put things in a proper perspective, from March 2020 to May 2020 gun sales were up 70 to 80% over last year’s numbers with a large percentage \u2014 40 percent! \u2014 going to first-time gun buyers.\u00a0 In fact, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the firearms industry trade association, estimated that during those months alone the gun community saw its ranks swell by 2.5 million<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What all this means is that millions of people are seeing through the lies of the gun prohibitionists.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
