Bouaichi, was indicted last year on charges for rape, strangulation, and abduction. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given the serious nature of the incident, he was initially jailed without bond in Alexandria, local news affiliate <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7.com\/freed-virginia-inmate-kills-accuser-rape-suspect-ibrahim-e-bouaichi\/6360357\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"released-rape-suspect-shoots-kills-accuser\" title=\"Released Rape Suspect Over COVID-19 Concerns Shoots, Kills Accuser\">ABC 7 reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But in the wake of the pandemic, lawyers for Bouaichi argued that for their client\u2019s safety as well as their own safety it would be best to set him free on a $25,000 bond.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Circuit Court Judge Nolan Dawkins consented on the condition that the defendant would only leave his Maryland home to meet his attorneys or attend pretrial services. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bouaichi, 33, didn\u2019t follow the plan.&nbsp; Instead, he murdered the Venezuela woman who had testified against him back in December. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/?p=132634&amp;preview=true\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"released-rape-suspect-shoots-kills-accuser\" title=\"Released Rape Suspect Over COVID-19 Concerns Shoots, Kills Accuser\">Ralph Northam\u2019s Gun Control Agenda Takes Off as Virginia City Bans Guns<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Attorneys for Bouaichi \u2014 Manuel Leiva and Frank Salvato \u2014 said in a statement that they were &#8220;certainly saddened by the tragedy both families have suffered here\u201d and that they &#8220;were looking forward to trial. Unfortunately the pandemic continued the trial date by several months and we didn&#8217;t get the chance to put forth our case.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Judge Dawkins, who incidentally retired back in June, did not comment when contacted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"released-rape-suspect-shoots-kills-accuser\" title=\"Released Rape Suspect Over COVID-19 Concerns Shoots, Kills Accuser\"><em>The Washington Post<\/em><\/a>. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After killing his accuser in late July, local police and federal marshals eventually spotted Bouaichi.&nbsp; He was in Prince George&#8217;s County last Wednesday.&nbsp; Following a pursuit that ended with Bouaichi crashing his car, the accused rapist shot himself. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bouaichi later died from his injuries. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tragically, Bouaichi isn\u2019t the only inmate in Virginia to be released and then reoffend.&nbsp; Justin Wilson, 26, was set free back in April due to COVID-19 concerns.&nbsp; Mr. Wilson then went on to stab to death 63-year-old Edigio Lenzi in July. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s worth noting that none of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/ralph-northams-gun-control-agenda-takes-off-as-virginia-city-bans-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"released-rape-suspect-shoots-kills-accuser\" title=\"Released Rape Suspect Over COVID-19 Concerns Shoots, Kills Accuser\">recent gun-control laws enacted<\/a> by Democratic Gov.
