The highly anticipated SIG Sauer Cross next-generation bolt-action rifle won this year’s Firearms Industry Team Challenge award for most innovative product of 2020<\/a>. The Cross rifle is now shipping to dealers across the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A hybrid design, the Cross combines elements from a chassis rifle with tactical rifle elements to make an accurate, modular and lightweight gun suitable for competition sports, hunting and duty use. The Cross is available in .277 SIG Fury, an extremely high-pressure, high-performance round developed for the US military. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SIG’s Cross is also chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 Winchester. All of the models share the one-piece receiver design, free-floating M-Lok barrel and handguard, adjustable two-stage trigger and accept AICS-pattern magazines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s offered with either 16- or 18-inch barrels in all three chamberings and weighs just 6.5 pounds with 16-inch barrels and 6.8 pounds with 18-inchers. That means with an optic, bipod and sling, these rifles will still weigh around 10 pounds, and possibly even less depending on the configuration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“When our product management team and engineers researched developing a bolt-action rifle from SIG, they looked at what was missing from the market, and what new innovation SIG could bring to hunters and precision shooters,” said SIG V.P. Tom Taylor. “Hunting rifles are typically focused on less weight, and accuracy is secondary. Precision rifles are designed for extreme accuracy, with no weight limitations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“What was missing from the market was a true crossover,” said Taylor. “The SIG Cross is the best of both worlds, featuring the characteristics of a hunting rifle, with the accuracy of a precision rifle, and we are very honored to be recognized for this innovation with an Industry Choice Award.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s also not the only SIG to win an award this year, as the SIG P320 XFive Legion, with SIG’s inventive tungsten-infused grip, also nabbed the top Handgun of the Year spot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The P320 XFive Legion is SIG’s top-flight striker-fired service pistol. It has a long 5-inch slide with lightening cuts and match-grade barrel paired with a stainless steel guide rod and multiple springs for use with light and heavy ammunition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally the slide comes with factory-installed fiber optic sights by Dawson Precision including a fully adjustable rear sight. The slide is also cut for SIG and compatible mini red dot sights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The P320 XFive Legion changed the game for competition pistols, and its innovative features beginning with our patented tungsten infused grip module, giving it the weight of steel with the flex of polymer, are designed to enhance the overall shooting experience by substantially reducing felt recoil and muzzle flip for outstanding on-target accuracy,” added Taylor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chambered for 9mm Luger, the XFive comes with three 17-round magazines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Firearms Industry Team Challenge awards, hosted by Oneida Molded Plastics, have been awarded since 2016. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
