Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn doing so, you would send a strong message regarding your commitment to the safety of your employees and customers\u2014and all of the communities that Subway serves,\u201d the senators from Connecticut continued. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blumenthal and Murphy cited the recent spike in gun purchases during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/nssf-millions-of-first-time-gun-buyers-during-covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"subway-to-gun-owners-refrain-from-openly-displaying-firearms\" title=\"Subway to Gun Owners: \u2018Refrain from Openly Displaying Firearms\u2019\">COVID-19 pandemic<\/a>, and armed (and peaceful) reopen protesters who patronized a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsobserver.com\/news\/local\/article242628341.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"subway-to-gun-owners-refrain-from-openly-displaying-firearms\" title=\"Subway to Gun Owners: \u2018Refrain from Openly Displaying Firearms\u2019\">Raleigh-based Subway in May<\/a> as the impetus for taking action.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s a video of the protesters published by <em>The News &amp; Observer<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat North Carolina is an open-carry state is inapposite,\u201d they argued. \u201cNo person should have to fear gun violence while visiting or working in Subway restaurants.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/world-traveler-reports-on-wisconsin-open-carry-and-walmart-request\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"subway-to-gun-owners-refrain-from-openly-displaying-firearms\" title=\"Subway to Gun Owners: \u2018Refrain from Openly Displaying Firearms\u2019\">World Traveler Reports on Wisconsin Open Carry and Walmart Request<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With this policy update, Subway joins the ranks of other restaurants and businesses who have also caved to the demands of anti-gun politicians and advocacy groups in recent years.\u00a0 Those include Chipotle, Sonic, Chili\u2019s, Target, Walmart, Panera Bread, Whole Foods, Starbucks, Aldi, CVS, and Walgreens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One such group, known as Guns Down America, celebrated in an email blast to supporters and followers. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBig news \u2013 our #SubwayMustAct campaign has succeeded!
