Ralph Northam rolled out this week in Virginia.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of the following took effect on July 1, 2020:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Universal Background Checks (UBCs)<\/li><li>Red flag law (\u201cextreme risk protection order\u201d law)\u00a0<\/li><li>One handgun a month for those without a concealed handgun permit<\/li><li>Reporting lost or stolen firearms within 48 hours<\/li><li>Increase in penalty for someone under 14 years old getting reckless access to a firearm (becomes a class 1 misdemeanor)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/ralph-northams-gun-control-agenda-takes-off-as-virginia-city-bans-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"new-gun-control-laws-take-effect-in-virginia\" title=\"New Gun Control Laws Take Effect in Virginia\">Municipalities Can Ban Guns in Gov\u2019t Buildings\u00a0<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Dubby Carr, the owner of Dubby\u2019s Fishing and Hunting, indicated to local media that the new laws only serve to chill the 2A rights of law-abiding citizens. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAny of the laws that they have [passed] aren\u2019t going to change anything for the better,\u201d Carr told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whsv.com\/2020\/06\/30\/virginias-new-gun-control-bills-in-effect-beginning-july-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"new-gun-control-laws-take-effect-in-virginia\" title=\"New Gun Control Laws Take Effect in Virginia\">WHSV3<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s not going to make anything different than it already is, except make it harder.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carr added that, for him personally, he may have to run a few more background checks on occasion as the UBC bill criminalizes private transfers. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt really won\u2019t increase my paperwork other than having to do the additional background checks for [private sellers], which I\u2019m feeling like there\u2019s not going to be a lot of those,\u201d Carr explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carr also pointed out the main problem with universal background checks, there is no way to effectively enforce them. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut, who is going to police that? How are they going to make sure that\u2019s happening?\u201d Carr said. \u201cUnless neighbor one and neighbor two say, \u2018Hey let\u2019s go into Dubby\u2019s and get a background check.\u2018\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/leftys-letter-to-the-salt-lake-tribune-maybe-we-need-guns-after-all\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"new-gun-control-laws-take-effect-in-virginia\" title=\"New Gun Control Laws Take Effect in Virginia\">Lefty\u2019s Letter to The Salt Lake Tribune: Maybe we need guns after all<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Right.&nbsp; UBCs are useless without universal gun registration and a digital database that tracks every purchase, sale, and transfer nationwide.&nbsp; Without it, there is no way for law enforcement to ensure compliance with the reliability and immediacy to make even a slight impact. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, even under those Orwellian conditions, the registry would only track law-abiding gun owners who opted into the system because they made a lawful purchase at an FFL or self-reported a transfer at a gun store. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Criminals would find a way to circumvent it altogether, using the same <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/violent-criminals-dont-get-their-guns-from-gun-stores-chicago-inmates-confess\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"new-gun-control-laws-take-effect-in-virginia\" title=\"New Gun Control Laws Take Effect in Virginia\">tried and true tactics they do now<\/a> to skirt existing gun laws: gun theft, black market, dark web, straw purchasers. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What one begins to realize is that UBCs are nothing more than a primer for additional gun legislation, mainly a registry.\u00a0 This is one of the long term goals of the anti-gun establishment, to be able to quickly identify every responsible gun owner in the country along with every firearm in his or her possession. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/ralph-northams-gun-control-agenda-takes-off-as-virginia-city-bans-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"new-gun-control-laws-take-effect-in-virginia\" title=\"New Gun Control Laws Take Effect in Virginia\">Ralph Northam\u2019s Gun Control Agenda Takes Off as Virginia City Bans Guns<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Why would our government want to do that?&nbsp; Answer\u2019s obvious.&nbsp; Systematic confiscation.&nbsp; It\u2019s easy to incrementally disarm a country when you know who has all the guns (and you enact red flag laws that allow police to seize firearms from individuals <em>alleged<\/em> to be a danger to public safety as opposed to just those who&#8217;ve actually been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor offense for domestic violence).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe all this is a long way off, but more gun control is coming down the pike if things don\u2019t change in the commonwealth.&nbsp; The Virginia General Assembly failed to enact a ban on so-called \u201cassault weapons.\u201d&nbsp; It may re-consider that bill in 2021.&nbsp; To that end, Mr. Carr is worried about the future.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt worries me to death, it worries me,\u201d Carr said. \u201cThis is not the Virginia I grew up in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">***<a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/\" campaign=\"BuySellGA_Register\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\">Buy and Sell on GunsAmerica!<\/a>***<\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gun-control legislation signed into law last April by Gov.
