Lantac USA<\/a> was one of the first companies to back Hornady’s new long-range AR-15 cartridge, the 6mm ARC. When Hornady announced the cartridge Lantac unveiled a complete rifle<\/a> in 6mm ARC and now they’re teasing an AR pistol<\/a> to go with it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Lantac’s Facebook page, availability could be as soon as next week. The new round, 6mm ARC or Advanced Rifle Cartridge, is stirring up a lot of interest with manufacturers and shooters alike. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Early this year Hornady released the ammo to the industry and a number of manufacturers will be offering rifles,” said Lantac USA. “We on the other hand have been working with them for two years as part of a military project and have had considerably more time to develop our products.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like the complete rifle, the Lantac 6mm ARC “Pig Pistol” is a premium piece of kit. Built on a Lantac LA-SF15 receiver set, the pistol also comes with a 10.5-inch SPADA-ML modular M-Lok handguard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of the pistol is a Proof Research stainless steel 11.5-inch barrel. It will be interesting to see what the performance of the new 6mm cartridge will be in such a small form factor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pistol comes with a dedicated Lantac 6ARC enhanced bolt carrier group and a Lantac Dragon DGN762B-DA Dead Air KEYMO-compatible muzzle brake. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each pistol also includes an ALG Defense fire control group and a 24-round steel 6mm ARC E-Lander magazine. The pistol will use a Magpul MOE pistol grip and SB Tactical SBA3 pistol brace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pistol version is a little different from the rifle version in a couple of ways. Obviously it’s an AR pistol with a brace instead of a rifle with a traditional stock. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The full-size rifle will use a VLTOR A5 buffer assembly and Magpul PRS Precision Rifle Stock as well as a carbon fiber 18-inch rifle+1 gas-length barrel. The rifle also has a longer 15-inch handguard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These changes should make the pistol version considerably more affordable than its rifle counterpart, especially the barrel. Proof Research barrels have quickly earned a fantastic reputation but their carbon fiber options aren’t exactly budget-friendly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Lantac still tapped Proof Research for the barrel, it’s a conventional barrel with a lower-cost stainless steel construction. Given that the barrel is just 11.5 inches long, this probably has less of an effect on accuracy downrange in any case. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, none of these changes will make the pistol a less-than-premium option, realistically just a somewhat less expensive premium gun. Of course, that probably won’t include all that Gucci gear, leaving options like optics and other accessories up to user. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pricing is still to be determined but these are no entry-level guns. Even without the accessories buyers are probably going to have to open their wallets pretty wide. But we’ll know pretty soon what the real-world prices will work out to be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
