BJ Baldwin of Baldwin Motorsports has been cooperating with police after getting into a gunfight with an armed assailant. His attacker was killed in what police say was a justified self-defense shooting, according to KSNV News<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baldwin and his girlfriend were having a meal in the parking lot of a local In-N-Out Burger when the couple was approached by two men. One of the men drew a gun on Baldwin’s girlfriend and opened fire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baldwin, who has a concealed-carry permit and was armed, returned fire while his girlfriend took cover. Police say at least 15 shots were fired in the ensuing shootout. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other man fled the scene. Baldwin and his girlfriend also left the area and called the police when they got to safety. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The police “informed us that BJ acted in self-defense and that they have determined that it was a justifiable homicide,” Baldwin Motorsports said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the attack, Baldwin has taken to social media to reach out to his supporters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I love and appreciate you guys so much and it really shows that you care about me and my well being, that you care about Tori and her well being,” reports TMR<\/a>. “My respect for those of you who have reached out just went through the roof and I definitely feel loved.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baldwin says he doesn’t hold a grudge against the man who attacked them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This person that I got into a gunfight with, his name is Joey and he\u2019s not a bad person,” said Baldwin. “He just got caught up doing some bad stuff and I happened to be in his line of fire.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Think about that, okay. Somebody comes up to my girlfriend and putting a gun to my face, with no demands with what appeared to be the intent to kill, murder, rob. He has my respect.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Because even though he did what he did to me. Put my life in danger, put my girlfriend\u2019s life in danger, put a gun in my face, threatening deadly force, I\u2019ve done a little bit of research, this guy probably had to do what he had to do and I don\u2019t hate him for that.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I can appreciate him for that and I can respect that. I don\u2019t think he\u2019s a bad person for doing what he did. I don\u2019t hate him, I don\u2019t hold any grudges towards him, even though he tried to kill me, even though he tried to kill Tori, I don\u2019t hold any grudges whatsoever.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Now, let this be a lesson to you all. If I can see the good in somebody that just tried to kill me and my girlfriend a few days ago, you should be able to see the good in anyone,” he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To his attacker’s survivors, he also had a message. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I\u2019m so sorry you\u2019re having to go through this \u2026 I needed to get home to my family and I will always fight to the death to make sure that happens, not out of hate, but out of love,” he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
