That\u2019s why it\u2019s in our Bill of Rights. It protects all of our\nother rights.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nEverytown memo also argues against gun stores being singled out \u201cfor special treatment,\nand be allowed to remain open even in the face of the most severe public-health\ncrisis this country has faced in over 100 years is legally flawed and should be\nrejected by the courts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe\nonly thing flawed here is Everytown\u2019s memo,\u201d Gottlieb observed. \u201cConstitutional\nrights are not subject to a public health crisis. Our rights are enshrined in\nthe Constitution to protect them from just this sort of political treachery\ndisguised as legal research. This memo is totally biased and one-sided, and is\nfurther proof that they know we are winning this battle.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For\nthe past two weeks, SAF and other groups have been waging successful legal\nbattles in several states to prevent or reverse gun shop closures, and defend\nthose important local businesses as \u201cessential\u201d during national emergencies,\nincluding a pandemic such as the Coronavirus outbreak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been winning,\u201d Gottlieb said, \u201cwhich means they\u2019re losing. People rushed to gun stores, many for the first time. Everytown wants to stop that by shutting those shops down. Closing gun stores won\u2019t cure the Coronavirus, and they know it. But if Everytown can convince people it\u2019s okay to suspend the Second Amendment during one emergency, they\u2019ll try to erase it entirely the next time we face a crisis.
