Firearms are marvelous, but the accessibility of airguns can be very attractive, too. Umarex’s new Fusion 2<\/a> pellet rifle boasts Asprin-popping precision with near-silent shooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Features<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Owners of the original Fusion rifle see the distinctive suppressor is still integrated on the barrel, but they will note the 2’s stock now has a taller pistol grip. The original was also a single shot rifle with two 12-gram CO2 cylinders. Fusion 2 now has a 9-round rotary magazine coupled with the bolt action for faster followup shots and much more CO2 capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suppressor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Umarex’s SilencAir suppressor has been revised. Its triangular design is fresh and it’s got five chambers to reduce its volume. Umarex says the sound of the pellet perforating a paper target is louder than the report. This could be very good for training new shooters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stock<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The stock is updated from a classic hunting rifle-style to an AR-style pistol grip. It’s also got a spar from the buttstock to the bottom of the pistol grip. Two M-Lok slots on each side of the forend allow users to add their own accessories, and there’s a comfy rubber butt pad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Magazine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This new magazine holds nine .177 caliber pellets. The rotary wheel makes it easy to load the next slot. You can load a partially emptied magazine and it holds on the last pellet seated to keep the magazine in sync. The gun ships with one 9-round mag and additional magazines are not yet listed on their site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CO2 Capacity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The original Fusion rifle took two 12-gram CO2 cartridges in the chamber under the barrel. Fusion 2 can do the same, or you can remove the 12-gram adapter and use much larger 88-gram cylinders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Velocity <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Umarex says the Fusion 2 shoots a 7-grain .177 caliber pellet at 700fps. Set up with two 12-gram CO2 cartridges, shooters can expect about 70 shots. The large 88-gram cylinders provide about 250 shots-worth of CO2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scope<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Fusion 2 has a Picatinny rail and includes a 4x32mm scope. Coupled with the 18.5″ barrel and light trigger, Umarex says that shooters can kill Asprin tablets at 10 yards with this setup. Irons sights are not included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trigger<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The trigger is set at 3lbs from the factory and is a single-stage setup. They say it’s light and crisp. We’ll have to get one for review and let you know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Umarex Fusion 2<\/a> weighs in under six pounds and with its near-silent operation, it could be a good option both for backyard plinking and training new shooters. It’s not often that a significant update comes in at a lower price, but the Fusion 2<\/a> is remarkably affordable. The original was $193 (a closeout sale is on right now), but MSRP for the Fusion 2 is just $139.99 and it’s available for order to your door (FFL not required!) right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
