In 2012, GunsAmerica published an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/an-appeal-to-women-and-minority-gun-owners\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"gun-control-leader-minorities-dangerous\" title=\"Gun-Control Leader Says Increasing Gun Ownership Among Women, Minorities Is 'Dangerous'\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">open letter<\/a> to these demographics in which we noted that women have been the fastest growing group of gun owners since the early 2000\u2019s, and minorities have been a core base of the pro-2A movement for just as long. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the FBI <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/washington-secrets\/fbi-record-gun-sales-checks-in-2019-nics-at-all-time-high\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"gun-control-leader-minorities-dangerous\" title=\"Gun-Control Leader Says Increasing Gun Ownership Among Women, Minorities Is 'Dangerous'\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">reported<\/a> in January that 2019 saw the most NICS background checks ever performed since the system began in 1998. There were three percent more background checks performed in 2019 than in 2016<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volsky\u2019s organization, Guns Down America, targets the\nfirearms industry rather than seeking legislative solutions. They claim to have\nbeen behind the efforts to force banks and businesses to cut ties with gun\nmakers, including the decision by Fed-Ex to stop providing discounts to NRA\nmembers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor far too long gun manufacturers and the gun lobby have perverted the right of gun ownership into an entitlement devoid of responsibility, creating a society where guns are easier to buy than alcohol and, consequently, putting us all at risk,\u201d they say on their <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsdownamerica.org\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\"
