Founded in the early \u201890s by Pauline Trost with a generous donation Zachary Fisher, the FHF set out to build comfort homes located around military and VA medical centers.  Offered rent-free to wounded soldiers and their families, these homes greatly reduce the financial burden that a family would normally face in that unfortunate situation. Over the years the program has been tremendously successful, serving more than 335,000 families, providing over 8 million days of lodging and saving families almost half a billion dollars in housing and transportation costs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
