For a lot of people, a scope is an investment.  This holds especially true when you get into long range shooting and the price of the optic can end up being on par with your rifle, or even more expensive in some cases.  Which brings us to protecting your lenses.  Here you have a scope worth hundreds if not thousands of dollars and we are relying on a $10 flimsy piece of plastic to protect our investment?  That is where Lirces 3 comes in with their Internal Scope Cap (ISC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Internal Scope Cap is a completely different look at the way we view scope caps.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

What is an Internal Scope Cap?\u00a0 Pretty much exactly what it sounds like.\u00a0 It is a unit that can be directly threaded onto your optic and features an internal aperture similar to a camera lens.\u00a0 As you twist the outer ring, you respectively open and close the aperture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On top of that, the ISC can be had with one or two lenses built-in, lending additional protection.\u00a0 And depending on the model, they can be ordered with a removable honeycomb kill-flash, to reduce detection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where the ISC really comes into it\u2019s own is with the adjustable aperture.  Rather than being binary, open or closed, it can be partially opened.  This can be used to adjust the amount of light coming into the scope.  Allowing the user to reduce glint, glare and eye strain, depending on the conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While I haven\u2019t had a chance to use the ISC in the field, I am intrigued by the concept.\u00a0 The ability to protect the lens and also limit light depending on the situation sounds awesome.\u00a0 All of the units are made with aluminum construction for durability and an over-molded rubber adjustment ring that won\u2019t warp in the heat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
