If you are familiar with the Vortex Razor HD Gen II 1-6, and have found yourself wanting a little more magnification on the top end, this is your year. At SHOT Show 2020 Vortex unveiled the new Razor HD Gen III 1-10×24. The new 1-10 eclipses the older 1-6 in a number of ways, all while coming in at the same weight…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Razor HD Gen III builds on the Gen II line. Keeping all those features you would expect, such as their HD Optical System, Argon Gas Purged Tube, Waterproof to IPX7 Standards, Fogproof, Shockproof, etc. But they built in a ton of new features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The illumination ring can be locked and features an “off” position between each of the 11 brightness settings.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For starters, the Gen III uses a larger 34mm tube. This allows the increased magnification ranging from 1x on the bottom all the way up to 10x on the top. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike the previous models, the Gen III also features a FFP Reticle (First Focal Plane) which scales larger or smaller as you increase\/decrease the magnification. They have bridged the gap by keeping the reticle fast and usable on 1x with the addition of their daylight bright illumination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turned up to 11, the center dot becomes a fireball. Nice and bright for those sunny days.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And when the optic is turned up to 10 power, you have a very well laid out reticle for use at distance. It’s available in either a BDC MOA or MRAD. Also, above the crosshairs is a quick reference for ranging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FOV (Field of View) is reputed to be better on the Gen III versus the Gen II as well, thanks largely to the 34mm tube, ranging from 116.0′ to 11.7′ at 100 yards. The Gen III measures 10.1″ and weighs 21.5 oz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the MSRP of the Razor HD Gen III 1-10 is $2,999, you will likely see them for about $2000 come Q2. This brings a lot of value at that price point, especially seeing as how they will ship with a Magnification Throw Lever and Sunshade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
