SHOT Show 2020 is here! At Media Day at the Range, I had a chance to fondle Aimpoint\u2019s new CompM5b red dot sight. Announced in November 2019, the big news at SHOT is that they should be shipping to the American market in Q2. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CompM5b is a lightweight rugged red dot that allows users to quickly adjust the reticle to compensate for ballistic drop at multiple distances. Simply rotate the top turret to switch between shorter and longer distances, and the best part — there is no need to re-zero or compensate for drop. It also features a wind compensation turret on the side for low, medium, and high-speed winds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CombM5b will come with interchangeable turrets for different calibers. Aimpoint can also create custom ballistic caps for your specific caliber or ballistic profile. Aimpoint used a mechanical on\/off switch that is easy to operate. It\u2019s powered by a single AAA battery providing over five years of continuous use on the daylight settings. Like most Aimpoints, the CompM5b can be used with night-vision and provides over 10 years of continuous use on that setting.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An included quick detach mount enables shooters to mount it on any platform with a standard Picatinny rail. The mount base has been keyed into the body of the sight to absorb recoil and prolong the life of the red dot. The CompM5b is waterproof and fully submersible up to 150 feet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to Aimpoint\u2019s advanced coatings and high-grade lenses, the CompM5b is parallax free. Paired with an Aimpoint 3XMag-1 or 6XMag-1 magnifier makes the CompM5b versatile for long-range use while maintaining red dot clarity. It comes standard with flip-up covers. MSRP is right around $1,100 and should be available by Spring 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
