<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Savage Arms announced Friday its entry into the semi-auto shotgun market with the RENEGAUGE (pronounced like \u201crenegade\u201d) line of scatterguns. The long-time rifle maker had already been selling shotguns under the Fox and Stevens brands, but the RENEGAGUE is the first semi-auto to carry the Savage Arms logo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRENEGAUGE is unlike any other semi-automatic shotgun, and\ndemonstrates our commitment to innovate as an independent company,\u201d said Al\nKasper, President and CEO. \u201cThis project has been in the works for years\nbecause we wanted to enter a new category in a big way. The team in place now\ndid an amazing job getting this to the finish line. Hunters and shooters are\ngoing to be amazed with the fit, feel, function and versatility of this\nshotgun. And it\u2019s a platform we can and will build on\u2014so look for more in the\nvery near future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The RENEGAGUE features what Savage calls a Dual Regulating\nInline Valve (D.R.I.V.) gas system that allows the firearm to cycle both\nlow-brass target shells and magnum hunting shells with the same reliability,\naccording to the company. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Savage\u2019s website claims the system \u201censures excess gas vents\nbefore it drives the bolt, resulting in consistent ejection, less felt recoil,\nand a lightning fast cyclic rate for dependably fast split times.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like many of Savage\u2019s rifles, the RENEGAUGE can be adjusted\nfor both comb height and length of pull, and the stock also features a rod\nbuffer to reduce felt recoil. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company is going after both hunters and competitive shooters\nwith its new line of shotguns. Competitive shooters will appreciate the oversized\ncontrols and what Savage calls \u201ccompetition-ready easy loading magazine port.\u201d\nHunters will appreciate what appears to be a rugged construction, including a\nchrome-plated action bar assembly and reciprocating components, and a fluted\nbarrel with a melonite finish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each shotgun also comes with three interchangeable flush\nmount choke tubes (Beretta\/Benelli; IC, M, F) and a hard-sided carrying case. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Savage has historically been known for low-cost, high-value\nfirearms, but the RENEGAUGE departs from the former part of that formula. MSRP\non the new shotgun is between $1449 and $1549, depending on finish and barrel\nlength. Check out the full line of options below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
