But\nanti-gun-rights California lawmakers have spent years adopting increasingly\nrestrictive gun control laws that were sold to the public as schemes to prevent\nsuch horrendous crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith\neach new gun control law,\u201d noted SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan\nM. Gottlieb, \u201cCalifornia citizens were assured that the new restrictions were\nnecessary to stop deadly crimes. But the only people to suffer the consequences\nare law-abiding gun owners and innocent victims. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe\nSaugus school shooting should convince any rational person that lawmakers in\nSacramento have perpetuated a fraud,\u201d he observed. \u201cThey\u2019ve known all along\nthat their gun control agenda was only going to prevent honest citizens from\nexercising their Second Amendment rights. Criminals, regardless of their age,\nhave never been prevented from committing deadly crimes by California\u2019s\nextremist gun laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within\nhours of the school shooting, anti-gun Democrats were renewing their push for\nso-called \u201cuniversal background checks\u201d and a ban on so-called \u201cassault weapons,\u201d\ndespite the fact that the alleged teen gunman couldn\u2019t legally have the gun he\nused, which was a .45-caliber pistol, not a rifle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat\nThursday\u2019s tragic school shooting really shows is the callousness of gun\ncontrol fanatics who quickly dusted off their same old agenda knowing it has\nnothing to do with the circumstances of the Saugus incident,\u201d Gottlieb said. \u201cAnd\nnow we\u2019ve got four new victims in Fresno, and California gun control laws\ndidn\u2019t prevent that crime, either. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s time for Democrats in Sacramento, including Gov. Gavin Newsom, to admit their gun control crusade has been an abysmal failure. They\u2019ve closed their eyes and ears to the truth like they closed their minds to the Constitution.
