If the federal government ever decides to ban modern sporting rifles or institute a mandatory buyback scheme vis-a-vis New Zealand, Dianna Muller will not comply.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The retired Tulsa, Oklahoma police officer said precisely that while giving testimony before a House Judiciary Committee hearing on outlawing \u201cassault rifles\u201d in September. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPlease don\u2019t legislate the 150 million people just like me into being criminals. It has happened. You\u2019ve already done it,\u201d Muller said, referencing the Trump administration\u2019s ban on bump stocks that forced owners to either destroy them, turn them over to the government or else face prosecution for unlawful possession of a \u201cmachinegun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was a bump stock owner, and I had to make a decision: do I become a felon, or do I comply?  Like that gentleman that just got escorted out, I will not comply,\u201d Muller continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A decorated competitive shooter, Muller also noted that more people are killed with hammers and blunt objects than all rifles combined, according to FB statistics. \u201cSo it doesn\u2019t make sense to me that this is going to solve the problem.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Muller\u2019s message went viral.  The national media ran coverage of her testimony and her \u201cI will not comply\u201d became a rallying cry for like-minded gun owners.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week, a local station in her hometown of Tulsa asked her if she expected her statement to garner so much attention.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn that whole testimony, was \u2018I will not comply,\u2019 as powerful for you as it came across?\u201d asked ABC Channel 8\u2019s <\/a>Maureen Wurtz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat was a powerful statement for sure. It was not in the script,\u201d said Muller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis was not on my radar; this was not something I had planned to do,\u201d Muller added. \u201cI say I was an \u2018accidental advocate\u2019 just because I was becoming more aware, and the language I was hearing was concerning me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The language she was referring to was coming from the Democrats running for president.  All of them have advocated for tougher gun laws while on the campaign trail and during the debates.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe media is focused on rifles. If you listen to any Democratic debate, you are going to hear every one of them champion for restricting our rights, specifically the AR-15,\u201d explained Muller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, Muller believes that there is an incremental attack on the 2A.\u00a0 Little by little politicians are trying to erode our right to keep and bear arms, a new red-flag law here, a ban on \u201chigh-capacity\u201d magazines there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt happens so death by a thousand cuts,\u201d observed Muller. \u201cI said that while I was testifying. You don\u2019t fool me. I see what\u2019s coming.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To beat back the coming onslaught Muller’s doing her part to educate lawmakers in Washington about the many, many positive sides to America’s gun culture as a representative for the nonpartisan DC Project.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between her testimony and her activism, we have to say kudos to Muller for fighting the good fight! Hopefully, she inspires more gun owners to join in. And if it ever comes to it — I will not compy, either. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
