The text &#8220;Finna be lit&#8221; is superimposed on the video and means, basically, &#8220;I&#8217;m about to have a good time.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile we were at her [Nathan&#8217;s mother\u2019s] house getting ready to go, I took a video of five or six pistols and an AR-15,\u201d Nathan told <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/pagetwo.completecolorado.com\/2019\/08\/28\/loveland-school-suspends-teen-over-family-gun-outing-pics-on-social-media\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"student-suspended-gun-video-mother\" title=\"Student Suspended After Posting a Gun Video Before Going to the Range with His Mother\" target=\"_blank\">Complete Colorado<\/a>. \u201cNone of them were loaded, they were all in their cases.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Loveland Police Department received the video via the state\u2019s \u201cSafe2Tell\u201d hotline, a program started in 2004 that allows parents, students, teachers, and administrators to share information about potential threats like suicide, drugs, and bullying. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their investigation found that Nathan had posted the video before a trip to the gun range with his mother, Justine Myers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe had a great day,\u201d Justine said. \u201cThis is what we do.\nNathan has been shooting many times with us. We are huge Second Amendment\nsupporters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After returning from the range, the two immediately met with\npolice to resolve the issue, and law enforcement determined that Nathan wasn\u2019t\na threat. The mother and son believed that was the end of the conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHis father told them he was out shooting with me, I am an\navid shooter,\u201d Justine said. \u201cSo, the officers said he wasn\u2019t in trouble and\nleft.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/school-district-shut-down-charter-school-armed-teachers\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"student-suspended-gun-video-mother\" title=\"Student Suspended After Posting a Gun Video Before Going to the Range with His Mother\">School District Threatening to Shut Down Charter School that Allows Armed Teachers<\/a> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>But the school district wasn\u2019t satisfied. The Thompson\nValley School District (TVSD) informed Nathan\u2019s father that he would not be\nallowed to return to school until they had conducted a full investigation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI called to ask why I couldn\u2019t go, and they said it was a\nsafety concern because the student who reported it was scared I was going to\nshoot up the school,\u201d Nathan said, adding that in three years at Loveland High\nSchool he had never had a conflict with another student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The school told Justine that they would need to conduct a \u201cthreat assessment hearing\u201d the next day, where she would defend her son in front of a seven-person panel, comprised of school administration, counselors, teachers, and law enforcement, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/reason.com\/2019\/09\/03\/colorado-teen-banned-from-school-for-going-shooting-with-his-mother\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"student-suspended-gun-video-mother\" title=\"Student Suspended After Posting a Gun Video Before Going to the Range with His Mother\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Reason.com<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hearing only lasted about five minutes, and the panel\ndetermined that Nathan\u2019s suspension should end.
