The National Rifle Association is a domestic terrorist organization\u2026 at least according to the city of San Francisco, which passed a resolution this week making it so. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Seriously. No joke. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday voted on a declaration written by District 2 Supervisor Catherine Stefani that essentially lumps the nation\u2019s preeminent gun-rights group with the likes of the KKK, the Black Liberation Army, the Weather Underground, and other notorious and hate-filled organizations with a track record of sowing violence and discord around the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In part, the declaration states the the NRA \u201cmusters its considerable wealth and organizational strength to promote gun ownership and incite gun owners to acts of violence.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“All countries have violent and hateful people, but only in America do we give them ready access to assault weapons and large-capacity magazines thanks, in large part, to the National Rifle Association’s influence,” it adds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stefani now wants other cities to follow suit, believing that the NRA deserves to be punished. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The NRA has it coming to them, and I will do everything that I possibly can to call them out on what they are, which is a domestic terrorist organization,” Stefani told Fox affiliate KVTU<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “People are dying every day in this country, and doing nothing is not an option, and that is what the NRA continues to do,” she continued. <\/p>\n\n\n\n It didn\u2019t take long for the NRA to issue a statement. Naturally, it saw this spectacle for what it was, a \u201cludicrous stunt.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n “This ludicrous stunt by the Board of Supervisors is an effort to distract from the real problems facing San Francisco, such as rampant homelessness, drug abuse and skyrocketing petty crime, to name a few. The NRA will continue working to protect the constitutional rights of all freedom-loving Americans,\u201d it stated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n NRA members took to twitter to defend the organization. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Here’s a rather entertaining rebuttal from Anna Paulina, a veteran and proud gun owner: <\/p>\n\n\n\n .@realAnnaPaulina<\/a> is a veteran, a wife, and an @NRA<\/a> member.
