A Kansas City woman decided earlier this week that she\u2019d had enough of the AR-15 she\u2019s been storing in her home for a friend, so she decided to purchase it and then destroy it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don’t even like touching this thing. It’s upsetting to\nme,\u201d Sandy Skaggs told KMBC News 9, gingerly holding what she called a \u201ckilling\nmachine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She told the outlet that the recent mass murders in Dayton\nand El Paso motivated her to buy and destroy the weapon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI do not want this gun. I want to destroy this gun,\u201d Skaggs\nclarified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She contacted local police to ask about the proper way to\ndestroy the rifle or request that they do it, telling law enforcement that she\ndoes not want it used for parts. She\u2019s willing to do anything to render the\nweapon inoperable, even \u201cpouring acid down the barrel to destroy the mechanism\ninside,\u201d according to KMBC\u2019s Michael Mahoney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI’m not opposed to hunting. I’m not opposed to hunters. I’m\nnot opposed to people having guns in their possession for protection. But this\nis a killer. It’s a killing machine, and that’s all it’s for,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Mahoney pointed out that AR-15s are legal to own and that\nmany hunters use them due to their accuracy and versatility, Skaggs stood her\nground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat’s right. They are. And I’m entitled to purchase and\ndestroy it,\u201d Skaggs said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skaggs joins a long and noble line of virtue signalers garnering\nlocal media attention for their brave decision to destroy semi-automatic rifles.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
