Beretta is expanding their time-tested 92 series with five new models that make up the new line of 92X guns all chambered for 9mm Luger. These pistols bring back some older features that some have sorely missed while adding modern improvements as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The five models include the 92X Performance<\/a>, a full-size competition-oriented pistol, the 92X Full Size<\/a>, a standard duty model, the 92X Centurion<\/a>, which has a full-size frame and compact slide assembly, and two 92X Compact models with smaller frames, with<\/a> and without<\/a> accessory rails. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of the 92X guns have Vertec-pattern frames with thin grips and beveled magwells and dovetailed front sights; features that make the 92X relevant and competitive in today’s market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from the Performance model, these pistols all use Beretta’s “universal” slide assemblies with ambidextrous decocker safeties that can be converted to decocker-only levers. The Performance model drops the decock function and uses a standard double- and single-action trigger with frame-mounted ambidextrous manual thumb safeties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few other standout features of the Performance model include a bright stainless finish on the slide and frame with black grips and controls for a light two-tone look. The Performance model also has a fiber optic front sight and an adjustable rear target sight, and a factory-tuned trigger to make it competition-ready right out of the box. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other competition features include Beretta’s sawtooth serrations on the slide (front and rear) and a slightly extended 4.9-inch barrel. It has a skeletonized hammer, oversized controls, extended beavertail and a “gas pedal” takedown lever for an aggressive thumbs-forward grip. It also weighs in at a hair less than 48 ounces, which helps reduce felt recoil considerably. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With its stainless steel frame and competition features the Performance model is the most expensive of the 92X series with a suggested price of $1,399, which is on-par with their other competition pistols. The other models are all priced at $899 or less, with the non-railed Compact model running just $800. As always, real-world and online pricing is typically less<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other models have all-black profiles and lighter alloy frames better suited for everyday carry. The Full Size weighs 33 ounces unloaded, while the Centurion and Compact models weigh 28 and 27 ounces unloaded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Standard capacity varies between these guns. The Performance model ships with 10- or 15-round magazines, while the Full Size and Centurion will have 10-, 15- and 17-round options. The Compacts have 10- or 13-round magazines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
