Grand Junction\u2019s World-Class Cameo Complex
to Host Premier US Practical Pistol Match July 19-21<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

GRAND JUNCTION, CO \u2013 June 26, 2019 \u2013 <\/strong>Competitive shooters from across the country and around the world will make their way to the new Cameo Shooting and Education Complex (CSEC) when the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA, www.uspsa.org<\/a>) hosts its ESP-Bighorn Classic Sectional Championship here July 19-21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world-class range just outside Grand Junction is shaping up to become the most comprehensive firearms facility in the world and is estimated to boost the local economy with an additional 50,000 annual visitors to the Grand Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen\n this $30 million Colorado Parks and Wildlife range is completed over a \n10-year build-out, it will attract shooters from all disciplines as well\n as law enforcement and anti-terrorist training programs,\u201d said CPW CSEC\n Manager Walt Proulx. \u201cEverything is state-of-the-art. The dedicated \nenterprise Wi-Fi network is the first of its kind.\u201d The system allows \nfor electronic scoring, where competitors get their scores emailed to \nthem the moment they\u2019ve finished each stage, with final match results \nposted and distributed instantly. Future capabilities will include \nlive-streaming, High-Definition visual drone feeds, and provision for as\n many as 300 users at a time on the 10GB fiber-optic network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everything\n is going high-tech in the shooting sports, even the event sponsors. \nESP-Bighorn Classic Match Sponsor, Electronic Shooter Protection (ESP, www.espamerica.com<\/a>)\n of Brighton, Colo., makes an in-ear, custom-fit, digital hearing \nprotection product that blocks out harmful sound volume, yet lets the \nshooter hear normal noise and conversations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith\n the increasing popularity of all shooting sports, the camaraderie has \nbecome more important,\u201d said ESP owner Jack Homa. \u201cIn a social setting \nlike a USPSA match, it\u2019s more fun to hear what\u2019s going on around you, \nand many people feel they can shoot better when they hear better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gun\n ownership in general, concealed carry permits and participation in the \n\u201caction shooting\u201d sports like USPSA that simulate the practical use of \nfirearms are increasing dramatically. \u201cThere is no better way to be \nproficient, intimately familiar and second-nature safe with your handgun\n than to become involved in this kind of shoot-on-the-move competition,\u201d\n said Paul DiMarchi, Match Director with the Action Pistol Group of \nGrand Junction (www.actionpistolgroup.com<\/a>),\n host club for the ESP-Bighorn Classic that is expected to draw 200 \ncompetitors. The Club is dedicated to putting Western Colorado on the \nmap for national competitions that traditionally take place on the \ncoasts and near large populations centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
