{"id":111556,"date":"2019-06-19T13:58:44","date_gmt":"2019-06-19T17:58:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/?p=111556"},"modified":"2019-06-19T13:58:44","modified_gmt":"2023-08-18T15:52:45","slug":"saf-federal-judge-issues-preliminary-injunction-against-ca-gun-show-ban","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/saf-federal-judge-issues-preliminary-injunction-against-ca-gun-show-ban\/","title":{"rendered":"SAF: Federal Judge Issues Preliminary Injunction Against CA Gun Show Ban"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>BELLEVUE, WA <\/strong>\u2013 A federal district court judge in California has issued a preliminary injunction against the Del Mar Fair Board\u2019s attempt to ban gun shows, in a case involving the Second Amendment Foundation, other groups and individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAF is joined by the California Rifle\nand Pistol Association, B&amp;L Productions, Inc., Crossroads of the West, South\nBay Rod and Gun Club, Maximum Wholesale\/Ammo Brothers and five private citizens.\nSAF is represented by veteran attorney Donald Kilmer, who has won previous\nlawsuits challenging gun show restrictions in the Golden State. CRPA is\nrepresented by attorney Chuck Michel, another veteran of gun law litigation. The\ncase is supported by the National Rifle Association\u2019s Institute for Legislative\nAction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Federal District Judge Cathy Bencivengo issued the preliminary injunction, prohibiting the Del Mar Fair Board from enforcing a recently-enacted moratorium on gun shows at the fairgrounds. Plaintiffs in the case consider this a huge victory over a moratorium that took effect back on Jan. 1 and the lawsuit was followed later that month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOf course we\u2019re delighted with this\nruling,\u201d said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. \u201cAt a\ntime, and in a state, where law-abiding gun owners seem under constant attack,\nhaving a federal judge side with our complaint validates our efforts to protect\nconstitutional and civil rights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLately,\u201d he added, \u201cit seems like a\nweek doesn\u2019t go by without another court victory in our efforts to win firearms\nfreedom one lawsuit at a time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lawsuit was filed in U.S,\nDistrict Court for the Southern District of California in San Diego.
