Eric \u201cNuke \u2018Em!\u201d Swalwell released his gun control proposal this week to the raucous applause of 12 supporters at a rally outside the National Rifle Association headquarters in Alexandria, Va. The California Congressmen\u2019s stance on guns ranks among the most extreme of the 2020 Democratic presidential candidates, but his proposals don\u2019t appear to be galvanizing the masses to his cause. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We\u2019re done letting the bullying, tweeting minority that leads the NRA dictate whether Americans live or die,\u201d Swalwell told<\/a> the “crowd.” \u201cI\u2019m taking the battle to the NRA\u2019s doorstep with a new, broader package of commonsense reforms to end gun violence. We\u2019re done relying on thoughts and prayers \u2013 it\u2019s time to act.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swalwell put up a brave face on Twitter, telling his 92,000 social\nmedia followers, \u201cTHIS IS IT! We’re announcing our comprehensive plan to END\nGUN VIOLENCE!\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turns out, the representative most famous for threatening to nuke gun owners<\/a> is also brave enough to use the crop tool on his smartphone. A slightly wider angle revealed that Swalwell\u2019s campaign probably printed too many signs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the attendees, a father of one of the Parkland victims who\u2019s vowed to \u201cdedicate the rest of my life to the cause of gun safety,\u201d claimed in response that the event was invite only. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, based on Swalwell\u2019s polling numbers, this might as well have been one of his rallies. The Congressmen has made an \u201cassault weapon\u201d confiscation scheme the cornerstone of his campaign, but the policy hasn\u2019t given Swalwell any noticeable bump in the polls.  Most surveys<\/a> show Swalwell garnering 0% percent of the vote, lower than the \u201csomeone else\u201d or \u201cother\u201d option included in most data (1-2%). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

His unpopularity hasn\u2019t stopped the Golden State rep from moving forward with his gun-ban proposal<\/a>. The complete monstrosity is even longer, but this is (we kid you not) only the policy items that deal specifically with firearms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
