In a recent debate with \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/collectivepac.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"tucker-onfiscation-give-up-my-gun\" title=\"Tucker Takes a Stand Against Gun Confiscation: \u2018I would never give up my gun\u2019\">The Collective PAC<\/a>\u201d founder Quentin James, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/shows\/tucker-carlson-tonight\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"tucker-onfiscation-give-up-my-gun\" title=\"Tucker Takes a Stand Against Gun Confiscation: \u2018I would never give up my gun\u2019\">Fox News<\/a> host made his position with respect to confiscation very clear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would never give up my gun, under any circumstance. I wouldn\u2019t. If I have a firearm in my house and I\u2019m posing no threat I\u2019m not giving it up and most Americans wouldn\u2019t,\u201d exclaimed Tucker.<\/p>\n<p>The two men were debating Rep. Eric Swalwell\u2019s proposal calling for a mandatory national \u201cbuyback\u201d program, vis a vis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/hogg-new-zealand-gun-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"tucker-onfiscation-give-up-my-gun\" title=\"Tucker Takes a Stand Against Gun Confiscation: \u2018I would never give up my gun\u2019\">New Zealand,<\/a> that would require black rifle owners to turn \u2018em over to authorities or else face jail time.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on the conversation, James attempted to walk back the California Democrat\u2019s plan by saying that Swalwell would allow gun owners to possess ARs under certain, limited conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTucker, thanks for having me,\u201d James said. \u201cAnd obviously again, you do have it a little wrong. Congressman Eric Swalwell did say he wants to ban military-style assault rifles. He also said that folks who want to keep them would be able to do so at a gun club or a hunter\u2019s range in a locker, so it\u2019s not taking them by force. It would be a buyback program. Again, this is his proposal, not mine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Swalwell did tell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2019\/04\/14\/politics\/eric-swalwell-gun-control-cnntv\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"tucker-onfiscation-give-up-my-gun\" title=\"Tucker Takes a Stand Against Gun Confiscation: \u2018I would never give up my gun\u2019\">CNN<\/a> that he was open to an \u201calternative\u201d arrangement that would allow gun owners to \u201ckeep them at a hunting club or a shooting range.&#8221; But the real question is does anyone actually believe Swalwell, who is hoping to become the Democratic nominee for president, would not follow through with his confiscation manifesto?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know it\u2019s not your proposal,\u201d Tucker said. \u201cBut he just said, he said twice, he actually wrote a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/opinion\/2018\/05\/03\/ban-assault-weapons-buy-them-back-prosecute-offenders-column\/570590002\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"tucker-onfiscation-give-up-my-gun\" title=\"Tucker Takes a Stand Against Gun Confiscation: \u2018I would never give up my gun\u2019\">USA Today op-ed today saying it,<\/a> and then he just said it on CNN, \u2018People who don\u2019t give up their guns will go to jail.\u2019 He just said that. So it\u2019s not a buyback program, that\u2019s a gun confiscation by force.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From the aforementioned USA Today op-ed that was originally published in May of 2018:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Instead, we should ban possession of military-style semiautomatic assault weapons, we should buy back such weapons from all who choose to abide by the law, and we should criminally prosecute any who choose to defy it by keeping their weapons. The ban would not apply to law enforcement agencies or shooting clubs.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>James eventually capitulated the point that those who refused to comply with the law, in this case, the Swalwell \u201cbuyback\u201d scheme, would be prosecuted.<\/p>\n<p>Tucker said that a government bent on seizing firearms from its citizens could lead to another \u201ccivil war.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s scary, man. Signs \u2018Red Flag\u2019 Law: Everytown Gloats, Sheriff Vows Non-Compliance<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>I wasn\u2019t going to bring it up but this \u201ccrap\u201d has already happened in America in 2019. Bump stocks! Those are now \u2014 as of March 26th \u2014 machineguns under federal law. Any American caught with one faces felony charges, jail time and the permanent loss of their 2A rights.<\/p>\n<p>Reports <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/only-2-bump-stocks-turned-over-to-vermont-state-police-ahead-of-deadline\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"tucker-onfiscation-give-up-my-gun\" title=\"Tucker Takes a Stand Against Gun Confiscation: \u2018I would never give up my gun\u2019\">suggest that compliance<\/a> with the new bump stock ban has been virtually non-existence, which may be a solid indication as to what would happen if Swalwell got his wish. As Tucker said, most Americans wouldn\u2019t [comply].<\/p>\n<p>What we have yet to witness is how things may heat up if\/when the government decides to go after bump stock owners. Right now the Trump administration seems fine with the status quo, which is keep \u2018em out of sight and you got nothing to really worry about.<\/p>\n<p>But that could all change with a Dem POTUS in the White House. Someone like Swalwell could ratchet up enforcement overnight and send ATF agents out to homes of persons suspected to possess bump stocks. With the NSA\u2019s massive surveillance system and our digital footprint on social media, it wouldn\u2019t be too difficult for the government to create a list of targets with a high probability of owning such devices (As I mentioned in the past, mine were all suddenly and inexplicably stolen one night).<\/p>\n<p>Same situation would be true if a national confiscation scheme of ARs was enacted. Few, if any, may voluntarily surrender their rifles but that wouldn\u2019t matter because Big Brother could easily pinpoint suspected violators by doing rudimentary social media searches.\u00a0 That would be after they took out all the vocal resisters to the ban.\u00a0 Those <del>freedom fighters<\/del> troublemakers would be the first to go&#8230; to prison.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe the ATF gets clever with it, too. Instead of pre-dawn raids at your home, agents nab you as part of a \u201croutine traffic stop\u201d on the way to the range or on the way back from a hunting cabin.\u00a0 The more discreet the operation, the less resistance agents are likely to face.<\/p>\n<p>Look, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/los-angeles-county-touts-success-of-confiscation-squads\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"tucker-onfiscation-give-up-my-gun\" title=\"Tucker Takes a Stand Against Gun Confiscation: \u2018I would never give up my gun\u2019\">Confiscation squads<\/a> already exist in states like California. It\u2019s not much of a stretch to imagine a situation where they become mainstream in all 50 states. And, to bolster their effectiveness, citizens would be encouraged through financial rewards (a gas card at a local station or a gift card to a supermarket) to rat out neighbors spotted with \u201cillegal guns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yes, yes, it all sounds crazy until you realize that a precursor to that very scenario exists with the \u201cred flag\u201d laws that are sweeping the nation. Also known as extreme risk protection orders, these create an environment where authorities can execute immediate ex parte guns seizures when a police officer or family member (or teacher, in NY) tells a judge that one is a danger to themselves or others.<\/p>\n<p>Point is Tucker should be scared.\u00a0Because we\u2019re heading in a direction where confiscation is going to become more common, where citizens are going to be more inclined to report one another for misperceived &#8220;dangerous&#8221; behavior, where personal privacy no longer exists.
