One of the scenes on the DVD is a true story about a woman who was about to be attacked, but the perpetrator immediately retreated when she “painted” him with her handgun-mounted laser.<\/p><\/div>\n

I learned a whole bunch of stuff I didn’t expect. Criminal attacks don\u2019t come when you expect them, so six-time USPSA champion Todd Jarrett<\/a> walks viewers through a dark parking-lot scenario, explaining how a laser can improve your ability to effectively use cover and concealment during a life-and death confrontation. The laser\u2019s advantages when on the move are made obvious.<\/p>\n

Julie Golob<\/a>, the only woman to shoot for the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit<\/a>, competitive shooter and author, takes a close look at how you can improve your trigger control and shrink groups by harnessing the laser\u2019s instant dry-fire practice feedback. During a panel discussion she also discusses the one-size-fits-all approach taken by many so-called experts when recommending gear for women.<\/p>\n

Todd Jarrett explains the advantages of a laser when seeking cover and concealment during a dark parking lot scenario on the DVD.<\/p><\/div>\n

Firearms consultant, author and terminal ballistics expert Richard Mann<\/a> addresses a phenomenon known as tunnel vision, which often occurs during a criminal confrontation. When that \u201ctunnel\u201d closes in as you concentrate and focus on the bad guy, doorways that may reveal a gun-toting accomplice are being ignored. The consequences could be deadly, but the laser can help with peripheral vision, weapon retention and keeping a better eye on your surroundings.<\/p>\n

Among the others heard from on the DVD are Michael Bane<\/a>, TV host and author, Iain Harrison<\/a>, 3-Gun competitor and former winner on the series \u201cTop Shot,\u201d<\/a> and Dave Starin<\/a>, a retired SWAT officer who is currently Gunsite Academy\u2019s<\/a> training director. Each addresses different facets of laser use, and yes, some of the advantages of Crimson Trace products.<\/p>\n

The DVD also includes installation instructions for Crimson Trace products, biographies of the participants and outtakes that can be viewed at your discretion. And, before you incorrectly surmise this is a boring, technical session that won\u2019t capture your attention, a 16-year-old gun enthusiast who spends some of his time in front of a gaming station didn’t budge for the entire 40 minutes.<\/p>\n

Richard Mann produced the DVD and ensured it would be educational for all who carry a handgun for self-defense.<\/p><\/div>\n

Mann explained the educational slant. \u201cWhen I was asked to produce \u2018The Laser\u2019s Edge\u2019 DVD for Crimson Trace I had three requirements; it had to be filmed at Gunsite, it had to be practical and it had to be educational. The result of all those hours of hard work is a DVD I think all who keep a handgun for protection can benefit from.\u201d<\/p>\n
