Rock band The Killers and Jamie Foxx maintained that trend earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>The Killers released a stand-alone track ironically titled (ironic to us, not to them) \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OIT0ucf_gys\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"jamie-foxx-the-killers\" title=\"Jamie Foxx, The Killers Speak on 'Gun Violence' and It\u2019s about What You\u2019d Expect\">Land of the Free<\/a>,\u201d which tackles a variety of controversial issues, including border security, mass incarceration, and \u201cgun violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With gospel-inspired singers in the background, Flowers croons, \u201cSo how many daughters, tell me how many sons\/Do we have to have to put in the ground before we just break down and face it\/We got a problem with guns\/In the land of the free.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Flowers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/matthewleimkuehler\/2019\/01\/14\/the-killers-take-on-gun-control-border-wall-in-powerful-new-song-land-of-the-free\/#5dc1d2fc7dce\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"jamie-foxx-the-killers\" title=\"Jamie Foxx, The Killers Speak on 'Gun Violence' and It\u2019s about What You\u2019d Expect\">claims<\/a> he started working on this song all the way back in 2012 after the Sandy Hook massacre.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I cried for those kids and teachers,&#8221; he wrote on social media. &#8220;I got on my knees and I prayed for those families.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, he wrote the verses attacking President Trump\u2019s border wall much more quickly than the one addressing firearms.<\/p>\n<h2>SEE ALSO:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/real-housewives-of-atlanta-are-proudly-armed-black-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"jamie-foxx-the-killers\" title=\"Jamie Foxx, The Killers Speak on 'Gun Violence' and It\u2019s about What You\u2019d Expect\" rel=\"bookmark\">Real Housewives of Atlanta Are Proudly Armed Black Women<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Action movie actor Jamie Foxx\u2019s comments were somewhat more measured but almost equally as vapid.<\/p>\n<p>Foxx <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/jamie-foxx-urges-politicians-to-stop-our-side-versus-your-side-mentality-when-it-comes-to-gun-violence\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"jamie-foxx-the-killers\" title=\"Jamie Foxx, The Killers Speak on 'Gun Violence' and It\u2019s about What You\u2019d Expect\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spoke to reporters<\/a> Sunday at the California Strong Celebrity Softball game, a charity event meant to raise money for the victims of the state\u2019s recent wildfires as well as the massacre at the Borderline Bar &amp; Grill.<\/p>\n<p>The actor called for \u201ccooler heads\u201d in national politics and hoped leaders can \u201cjust erase the lines in the sand when it comes to politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the one time I can say in our history\u00a0that nobody on either side of the political whatever, has taken a step towards saying, \u2018Hey, we\u2019re smart enough\u00a0\u2014\u00a0how do we prevent these things from happening?\u2019\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople will say, why don\u2019t you talk about Chicago or why don\u2019t you talk about these other places \u2014\u00a0wherever it is. If we can do something and make one step towards it \u2013 if you think about our life in America, which is the greatest place in the world to live \u2013 anytime that something tragic happens, what do we do? We adjust.
