Because Bank of America employees do not work for the government, the $200 tax payments are still being processed as usual,\u201d notes ASA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the checks are cashed, the forms are still being mailed to the NFA Division in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Under normal circumstances, this part of the process accounts for the first one to two weeks of the average NFA transfer. As a result of the shutdown, forms are stacking up as they are received by the NFA Division.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ASA went on to say that purchasers can expect to \u201csee a short term increase in transfer times while the backlog builds\u201d but that one shouldn\u2019t worry too much because once our elected officials get things up and running again in Washington, \u201cNFA examiners and contractors are known to work extensive overtime, including holidays and weekends\u201d and the ATF has been known to assign \u201cnon-NFA staff to temporarily assist NFA in reducing past backlogs.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"headline\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/no-hillary-suppressors-las-vegas\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"suppressor-transfer-forms-shutdown-asa\" title=\"Government Not Processing Suppressor-Transfer Forms During Shutdown, Says ASA\" rel=\"bookmark\">No, Hillary, Suppressors Would Not Have Made Las Vegas More Deadly<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>In other words, once the shutdown ends things should return to normal in short order. Of course, there is no telling when the shutdown will end. Democrats on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/shutdown-showdown-trump-heads-to-the-border-as-impasse-over-wall-drags-on\/2019\/01\/10\/bb325c92-14c9-11e9-90a8-136fa44b80ba_story.html?utm_term=.0d2cb6d3535e\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"suppressor-transfer-forms-shutdown-asa\" title=\"Government Not Processing Suppressor-Transfer Forms During Shutdown, Says ASA\">Thursday tried to introduce spending bills<\/a> that would partially reopen the government for business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s separate our disagreements over border security from the government shutdown, reopen all the government agencies unrelated to border security, and let\u2019s continue to work to resolve our differences,\u201d said Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). \u201cDo not hold all of these workers as hostages, as pawns, as leverage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, this effort was snuffed out by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will not produce a result,\u201d noted McConnell. \u201cIt won\u2019t solve the problem because the president has made clear he won\u2019t sign them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the stalemate on Capitol Hill, ASA is encouraging purchasers to sill go ahead and continue submitting transfer forms because \u201cshutdown or not, NFA forms will be processed in the order in which they are received.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">***<a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/\" campaign=\"BuySellGA_Register\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\">Buy and Sell on GunsAmerica!<\/a>***<\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cAfter the checks are cashed, the forms are still being mailed to the NFA Division in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
