I have no sympathy&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"width: 0px;overflow: hidden;line-height: 0\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/p>\n<p>For the second time in a span of about five years a Tulsa man had to use a firearm to defend himself from a home invader.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is the second time I shot someone,&#8221; said Charles Sweeny in a recent interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox23.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"tulsa-homeowner-shoots-intruder\" title=\"Tulsa Homeowner on Dead Intruder: 'He brought this on himself. I have no sympathy'\">Fox23 News<\/a>.\u00a0 &#8220;I&#8217;ve escorted at gunpoint at least a half dozen people of the property.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Police say that would-be burglar Donald Stovall climbed through a bathroom window of the man&#8217;s residence early Tuesday morning.\u00a0 It didn&#8217;t take long for Sweeny to arm himself with a handgun and confront the stranger.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He comes into view and <em>blam<\/em>! Boy, that 9mm is really loud inside the house,&#8221; explained Sweeny.<\/p>\n<p>After firing the shot, Sweeny called 911 at approximately 9 a.m.\u00a0 When authorities arrived, Stovall was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He brought this on himself,&#8221; said Sweeny.\u00a0 &#8220;I have no sympathy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>SEE ALSO:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/study-refuted-mass-shootings\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"tulsa-homeowner-shoots-intruder\" title=\"Tulsa Homeowner on Dead Intruder: 'He brought this on himself. I have no sympathy'\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Obama-Era Study Refuted, US Accounts for Less than 3% of \u2018Mass Shootings\u2019<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>While an investigation is ongoing to solidify the burglary motive and to determine if the two knew each other prior to the confrontation,\u00a0Capt. Karen Tipler with the Tulsa Police Dept. indicated that it appeared to be a case of lawful self-defense.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf they (residents) feel that there is a danger to themselves or someone else who may be in the home from an intruder, then, yes, they are within their legal rights to defend themselves within their home,\u201d Tipler said.<\/p>\n<p>Back in Oct. of 2013, Sweeny shot one of two suspected burglars at the same residence, according to\u00a0Sgt. Brandon Watkins.\u00a0 The invader, in that case, was seriously wounded but not killed.\u00a0 Both intruders pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Asked if there was a connection between the two break-ins, Watkins said, \u201cEach homicide investigation is like a snowflake: they\u2019re all different. \u2026 What happened in the past doesn\u2019t necessarily impact what happens this time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As for\u00a0Sweeny, he had a message for anyone else who would attempt to burglarize his home.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I thought my life was in danger. I shot him.
