Have a spare $4,000? If you do, you could be the proud owner of Winston Churchill’s .32ACP 1913 Webley & Scott self-loading pistol, which will be going up for auction on Dec. 2, according to PDNet.com
Certified with two letters of authenticity, one of which is signed by Churchill’s grandson, Winston Spencer-Churchill, the pistol is from the British Bulldog’s personal collection and goes up for sale at the Bonhams auction house in Knightsbridge, London.
Considered the ‘little brother’ of Webley & Scott’s MkI .455, which was never widely adopted by the military, the .32 Webley & Scott was intended for commercial and sports sales, though Bonhams points out that the .32 was chosen by Scotland Yard for close up protection details in 1911, and that Churchill’s personal bodyguard carried one also.
It is not known if Churchill carried the gun for personal protection, however, it is possible: Churchill survived around 20 known assassination attempts.
You can read more about Webley and Scott’s .455 MkI and the .32ACP at wilkinsonfscollection.com or see it in action below. If you decide you want to own this amazing piece of history, remember to save a little bit of money for a magazine, Churchill’s is missing.
Just my opinion and I am proud to own up to all the mis conception I’ve made throughout the years. I believe that during the time we could not have had better leaders to fight Hitler even sometimes I question the judgement of Uncle Joe . We fought we won !
I’m betting this gun wasn’t one he was fond off.the one I’d want more would be his broomhandle mauser.
That was the one he fought with
Nazis sure werent heros yet many people collect their guns and pay large premiums for guns with their markings on them. Im sure weve all ooohed and aaahed at the drug cartels and saddams gold plated AKs too. Im sure the winning bidder will be happy thats all that matters. Cheers.
Before giving 4K for a weapon by Churchill, you should read the histroy of his involvement in WWI. He was no hero.
I wouldn’t own anything of Mr. Churchill. My uncle Glenn served under Patton and he told me that after they cleared a city that no one could go into it until after Mr. Churchill made his appearance. My uncle did not like Mr. Churchill.
Winston Churchill was the best person of the entire 20th Century. I’d love to own his personal gun, but I have nowhere near that kind of money.
