Slide Fire Solutions
As someone who reviews firearms for a living, I can sometimes mistake going to the range for actual work. I’ve got cameras to line up, lighting to consider. When I get down to shooting, I’ve got a lot on my mind, much more than I used to when I went shooting with friends and isn’t always fun. Slide Fire is here to remind me of the good times, when shooting made smile. They brought out a mess of guns to the Range at SHOT Show 2014: AKs, ARs, even some tricked out Ruger 1022s. They also brought out cases of ammo and a full crew to keep the magazines full. The result was the most fun I’ve had at the range in a long, long time.
The stock sets are intriguing. Pull the trigger back and hold on. The pressure of the spring in the stock reacting to the recoil from each subsequent round will empty a 30 round magazine in a hurry. It requires a bit of practice, but isn’t hard.
Slide Fire is known for its stocks. The latest invention is so new that it is, as of yet, un-named. It is a cradle of sorts that holds an AR-15 upside down. There are two vertical grips at the back end and paddle-style triggers that you press with your thumbs. The whole contraption mounts onto a tripod. Is it necessary? No, of course not. But that misses the point. Is it fun? It is. It is fast, it is fun, and it is a bit easier to keep on target than you’d expect. It is going to get expensive, too, with all that lead zipping down range.
What should they call it? We’re open to ideas. Let’s give this whatchamacallit a name.
There’s just enough of a resemblance to a Browning M60….How about “The Brownie Bumper” or “The Bumper”? Or “The Whole Nine Yards”!
One of those concepts that is so simple in principle that I am amazed no one thought of it before.
“Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms” should be a convenience store, not a government agency…

The two chaps on the doorstep say : “Hi, we’re from the bureau of alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives”
The homeowner repies: “Come on in! I use all your fine products.”
Dennis…. That was actually the mini 14 that had a failure to feed twice…I can tell by the magazines thickness and the action of the gun….. From my experience mini 14s do not like to rapid fire at high rates…
I foresee a visit from their not-so-friendly local BATFE representative in the near future regarding that chassis-mount…
Looks like the 10/22 jammed twice while they were bump firing? Seems like a 22 or wouldn’t have enough recoil to cycle bump fire action.
I run a slidefire on my Smith and Wesson 22 Caliber ar platform rifle. Using a timney 3 lb trigger and 40 grain rounds helps encourage a little more recoil. Paired with a blackdog 50 round drum and it rocks and rolls. Fun as heck, cheap and surprisingly accurate.
Its just a gimmick for showing off their products. Not for sale Id bet. Call it the ‘Media Day Mount’. They would rather people use their weapons that are fixed to a mount than actually holding and firing their guns unassisted and untethered. Maybe, maybe not, just my opinion.
Call it anything you want. Just call me when it’s available. This is the every-guys wet dream. I see a mount in the back of my Superduty’s gooseneck hitch waiting for a shtf day. Rat Patrol reborn!!!!

AR Nirvana? Add a Beta mag and have some fun.
Why not mount two of them side by side with beta mags. Fairly simple idea of getting more fire power with out having to hold and shoot t firearms at a time. 😀
Put a “rocker” assembly behind the butts of paired weapons on a platform of this sort so they will fire one after the other. Ammunition will last twice as long with the same rate of fire, and the weapons involved won’t heat up as quickly. Might help flying brass to clear as well.
Have they had any trouble with empty brass clearing the action using this system?
I’m imagining this a tandem setup with a couple opposing offset 100 rnd drum magazines. Now THAT would be something.
I think they need to try their new platform out on a M82A1…Now that would be cool.
that really just looks like a device made by slide fire to make it easier for people to use the stock at the trade show. (so people are not actually holding the guns which they may not be comfortable holding an shooting in a crowded environment like that) not like a product that they will roll out with. It looks pretty jury rigged to me.
