A tragic incident unfolded in North Ogden, Utah, as a man from Long Beach, California, shot and killed his estranged brother, leaving his sister-in-law critically wounded.
The violent encounter was captured on a Ring doorbell camera, providing chilling footage of the moment.
The suspect, 66-year-old Jeffrey Roberts, drove from Long Beach to his brother Scott’s home in North Ogden.
Upon Scott opening the front door, a brief conversation took place before Jeffrey allegedly opened fire.
“Hey, what’s up?” Jeffrey Roberts says, per a transcript via LawAndCrime.com.
“What are you doing?” Scott Roberts replies. Jeffrey says he drove over “to see Mom.”
“She’s not here,” Scott Roberts replies. Scott goes on to say that she’s in Missouri living with a woman “who’s taking care of her.”
“How long has she been there?” Jeffrey Roberts asks.
“About a year,” Scott answers.
Jeffrey Roberts reaches into his jacket pocket.

“Really?” he says.
Scott doesn’t respond and that’s when Jeffrey draws the gun and begins opening fire on his brother.
Scott’s wife, who was inside the house, was also shot but survived the attack and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
Hearing the gunshots, alarmed neighbors contacted the police.
Kevan Bybee, one of the neighbors, recounted his experience in an interview with ABC7: “I was sitting on the couch watching TV, then I heard shots and jumped up, ran out on my deck, and heard three more shots.”
When authorities arrived on the scene, they engaged Jeffrey Roberts after he began shooting at them. The suspect died at the scene.
Jeffrey reportedly used road flares to set his brother’s house ablaze, further complicating the tragic event.
Back in Long Beach, friends of Jeffrey held an estate sale at his home on Friday.
“Family estrangement and situation led to this tragedy,” said Julie, a friend of the deceased to ABC7. “Others pushed him to the brink, we believe.”
Investigators have yet to declare an official motive. More footage of the incident can be viewed via the YouTube page of the Weber County Attorney’s Office.

Jeffrey is about a simple primate. Another dumb-fuck that obviously can’t shoot straight at anything further than arms reach and too stupid to shoot at what should be shot at and unarmed family AIN’T IT! This whole 2A needs to be revisited to somehow keep stupid people and mental cases (e.g: TRANSIDIOTS, Democrats, etc) as far away from screwdrivers, vehicles, and other weapons as possible. Jeffrey was no man – he was a wasted life – a loser – a coward. The ambush of his brother Scott and family was without honor. Aside from these obvious facts, id like to know what caused this nut to be literally triggered. His brother’s family were completely caught off guard and not alarmed at his presence but curiously didn’t invite him in. I’d like to know more.
Lots of questions.
Good shooting by LEO.
Hope the dude who answered the door and everyone else inside including the dog will be safe.
No MSR seems to be involved, so confiscation of all firearms will be argued by the other side.
Just another reason crazy people shouldn’t be allowed to have guns. And that’s not gun control it common sense. Thank God none of the cops were hurt.
You presume that what you “allow” exists is the same reality where nutjobs acquire what they want regardless of the suggestive guardrails established by society. It’s a nice sentiment, but the world is wide open for people to acquire whatever their hearts desire – especially the wily lunatic fringe.
Yeah, sorry Mr. Kalifornica Nutjob… too bad you had to kill others on your way to Hell. Dirty coward.
Man you got that right!!
