The official title of this video is “Armed and Reasonable: How To Buy a Gun In Canada.”
In watching it, I’d say that the arduous and lengthy process to purchase a firearm is anything but “reasonable.”

Yet, what I hate more than anything else is when foreigners tell us that our gun laws should be more like theirs — so, I’ll be polite and exercise the courtesy we’re never really given and I will refrain from telling Canadians that they should make their gun laws more like those in the U.S.
Canada, if you like your gun laws, you can keep your gun laws! But please, please, please don’t suggest that we need to somehow become more like you.
As it relates to gun ownership and the 2A, we’re doing just fine down here in the states. Just fine.
Canada for Canucks and leave it there. Stay the hell out of the US policy and laws. WE are free you are not, end of story.
AND KEEP YOUR FRICKING BEIBERS AT HOME AND HIS MOUTH SHUT!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m Canadian, and I don’t want my US friends to take offence to this video, because the video is produced from an anti-gun advocate, just like the ones you have down there. She obviously makes her living off of youtube. Her video had some inaccuracies and poor editing, like when they show her looking down the barrel. In the PAL course, examining the bore is the last step after removing ammunition, checking chamber and feeding paths, and always with action open. Unfortunately they cut out that part. Anyway, she neglected to show all the weaknesses of our system, and how unfair it can/has been to some of our gun owners. I think both countries have good and bad points about the system they use, but that is with everything.
Finally, I just want to say most Canadians love our neighbours to the south, so don’t be offended by this citiot! Haha, and Merry Christmas!
Well and reasonably said, wildwestrifleman.
That said, included in the “weaknesses of our system” (Canada’s) the basic fact that the right to self-defense is not protected by a Constitution, as it is in the States.
Note that I said “protected by”, not “granted by” the Constitution. The Constitution doesn’t grant us rights, it is designed to restrict the government’s authority to infringe on rights ALL humans have, by right of birth. (Including Canadians, though their government doesn’t choose to protect them.) Including the right to oppose them with equal force if they exceed that authority they are given. So the whole discussion of “what weapons people should have the right to own” has nothing to do with government, in the best case. The choice of weapons is up to the user, not the government.
This isn’t meant as pedantic discussion, it’s a vitally important distinction. That is what makes the U.S. free-er than other countries.
Why do Canadians feel it necessary to trash our ways of life? It’s like the friend that says something nice in your face, then bad mouths you behind your back. Seriously, Canada? Are you still salty that we didn’t take your Tory-loving asses along with us in 1776? Anyway, our rights derive from GOD, and cannot be taken away from us, except by blood, and even then, that’s highly doubtful.
They can’t take the rights away, even by blood. They can prevent us from exercising them, but they can’t remove them.
And no, they’re not the same thing.
Why do these people have to curse? Are they not smart enough to express themselves by any other means than f-bombs?
They have gotten so used to doing it for shock value it comes as second nature. You may have noticed this woman and her wife are crude and tasteless in many ways. These are women who try hard to draw attention to themselves since no man would normally give either one a second look.
This is well done video. The video missed a couple of points about guns and the U.S. Yes, we have a much larger population, but we equally have a higher rate of gangs and gang violence and drugs. I would bet that the shootings in South Chicago exceed the entire country of Canada and they have some of the toughest laws in the U.S. with the weakest government leadership. The Mayor of Chicago is not doing anything to help these people. I wondered about the fact that there are a high amount of guns in Canada that are not registered or owned by legal gun owners. Their system is not that fool proof.
She looked down the barrel of a rifle to see if it was loaded and the woman in charge told her she did a good job. WTF?!
Yes she did look down the barrel to see all clear. I took the pal course in Canada and that’s required to do to clear and make safe a firearm. It is against everything we are taught in the US but the instructor said ” well the breach is open its unloaded, aye. “.
Like most countries, Canada has it’s pro-gun people and it’s anti-gun people. And then there’s the anti’s who have access to media.
I wouldn’t even allow this video to be posted with erroneous statements like “no background checks required at gun shows”. That’s such BS as we all know purchasing a gun from a licensed dealer ALWAYS requires a background check, gun show, online , wherever. This is true in all states.
At least she was a little more honest about gun statistics than Clinton and Obama were: she correctly took out the 22,000 suicides/year that Obama wants to call “gun violence.” However, she needs to breakdown the 11,000 deaths further, and take out the legitimate and accidental shootings
Interesting to note that at the end of the video, the young lady decides that the Canadian firearms laws are so onerous that it’s simply not worth the trouble. That’s the whole idea behind firearms laws, to discourage as many people as possible while technically “allowing” firearms ownership.
Astute observation, Altoid.
Look at most of Europe, where you can own a firearm, but must keep it locked up at your gun club’s clubhouse. Like being able to own a screw driver, but must keep it lock up at your mechanic’s club clubhouse.
Ok….Hypocrite much, Canada??? Without even playing the attached video, the screen shot is of a woman shooting a pistol..!?!?! Well, according to the words of the “Minister of status of women” (I still can’t stop laughing about that!!! ), that picture itself is “unrealistic and offensive”!!! If it’s unrealistic and offensive for women in Canada to defend themselves, then why is this woman on this video promoting anything that has to do with guns at all???……let alone shooting one herself!!!!!????? KEEP your laws AND your LIBERALS, CANADA!!! We don’t want either one here in the US!!!
In the immortal words of Twitty Bird, “Bad ol’ Hypotwits!!”
AMERICANISM!!!! Not Globalism!!!!!
