A pizza delivery driver shot and killed a man last week after the “customer” reportedly held up a gun and demanded money.

The man who died was a customer. It happened shortly after midnight.

Delivery Driver Gets An Unexpected Confrontation

The driver arrived to deliver a pizza. His two supposed customers apparently had guns and demanded money.

According to the police report, the driver was, understandably, afraid for his life.

The driver pulled out his gun and shot one of the men, killing him.

The dead man has been unofficially identified. He was allegedly a 21-year-old named Areyah White.

The second man ran away. The driver was unharmed.

Investigations

“We’re not sure how the pizza delivery went so wrong that somebody wound up getting shot,” said HPD Sgt. Mark Holbrook. “But that is what we’re investigating right now.”

There is not yet any evidence that White had a gun on him. The second man is still missing, but police say he took White’s backpack.

According to Fox26, the driver stayed at the scene and spoke to police. He has not received any charges so far.

Accusations Against The Delivery Driver

Areyah’s brother Ameer White told KHOU-11 the situation seemed odd.

“They say he was the pizza delivery guy, but we don’t have a receipt that he was buying a pizza,” he said. “If you were the pizza delivery guy, why were you armed?”

According to Ameer, his brother was at a nearby apartment with his girlfriend. The two brothers lived together.

Pizza Delivery Drivers Have Rights Too

Some people might agree with Areyah’s brother. But in Texas, every law-abiding citizen has the right to carry guns. This applies to pizza delivery drivers.

Police say that this case will be brought before a jury. Stay tuned for updates.

Uh, I want a large, thin-crust with extra cheese, pepperoni, Italian sausage, onions, and… can you throw in a little hot lead? Feels like I have a mineral deficiency.

Why was the delivery driver armed? Are you kidding me?!? I’m armed whenever I step out my back door, for man or beast.

I presume the pizza delivery guy was shown a picture of the dead guy’s brother and he was not the one who ran away?

“Police say that this case will be brought before a jury.”
Why waste the taxpayer’s money? This was obviously a robbery botched by a prepared
pizza delivery man. Ameer White the robber’s brother said
“If you were the pizza delivery guy, why were you armed?”
In hood talk that means they were expecting to rob an unarmed pizza guy.
    Too bad so sad.

If you are a pizza delivery guy, why would you NOT be armed?
