There are countless 1911 fans who love their single action carry guns but want just a bit more versatility from the design. Lights. Lasers, maybe. Many companies have answered the call and bolt rails into their frames. But what about the rest of us, the ones who own traditional 1911s? Recover Tactical has the answer. The Grip and Rail system is a great option for people wanting to hang gadgets off their 1911: a set of grips that extend out under the trigger guard to make a rail under the long end of the frame.
The installation is quick and simple. You’ll need a screw driver and an Allen wrench. One example here at SHOT was attached to a Springfield 1911 and another one to a Colt. The Recover Grips do increase the size of the gun’s grip, but not by much. The thickness feels about the same, but the width was a little more pronounced. The back of the frame is not covered by the Recover, only the front.
The Recover was designed by Tamir Porat and is manufactured in Israel. The units are supposed to be shipping in February and will have an MSPR of $49.95. For around the cost of a new set of grips, you can also get a rail on your 1911.
I have the RECOVER Tactical Frame/Rail unit and the holster. I purchased them both so I could add a rail to my EDC- KIMBER TAC CUSTOM II I’ve carried for many years. I couldn’t be happier with the Quality and Function of both frame cover and holster. A STREAMLIGHT Light/Laser combo fits nicely and is easy to carry/holster and draw. The price is great especially for the Quality /Fit/Finish of both Cover and Holster. If there is anything that I would improve, it would be that the Grip on the cover is SMOOTHER than I like .I’m going to remedy that soon with a GRIP Tape or some type of Pachmyar/Hogue grip cover. Definitely worth a try.
will this fit a single action high power?
Looked at website & it looks like it shortens the front of the grip. Overall I think I might give it a try. $50 isn’t bad of an investment on something that doesn’t appear to damage your gun. Just take it off if you don’t like it.
Will this fit the OLDER 1911 models…such as the old Llama full size 1911 made back in the early 1970’s? I’d love to get something like this on my Llama!! Please advise – I’m definitely interested!!
Unlikely, my llama’s grip screw spacing is not the same as my colt’s
FYI. A buddy gave his tan one to fit on my Llama 1911 full size. Like Phil mentioned. The screws are just too far apart . So I did a modifcation and slotted the holes. Well even if it did fit. You would still have an issue with the gaurd around the trigger gaurd. It left a good 1/8 inch gap. So if you did get the two little screws to tighten. You would have that gap, and therefore wouldn;t be able to slide any light, laser sight, or accessory to it. So, yeah it doesnt work! 🙁
nope wont fit llama screw width is to much the recover is really cool have it in a few 1911s works great with military spec but we all know llama is NOT military spec there are some companies out there that make grips for the llama but there few and far between gerry

Will it fit in a holster with the larger triggerguard?
It also has a rail now so your gonna need a new holster. Im sure you can find one from andrews leather, or burnickle holsters but those are spendy. Plenty of guys make kydex for both open and concealed. Its pretty easy to do yourself as well and pretty cheap
