Police at Texas Tech Praise Campus Carry: ‘No Longer a Target of Opportunity’ for Mass Killers

in 2nd Amendment – R2KBA, Authors, S.H. Blannelberry, This Week

Police at Texas Tech are praising campus carry approximately two years after the law has gone into effect, saying that it makes the university a “safer place.”

“I believe it makes the campus a safer place, to live, learn and educate,” Amy Ivey, a lieutenant at the Texas Tech Police Department, told KAMC News.

Specifically, Ivey believes that they are no longer a soft target.

“I like to think we’re no longer a targeting opportunity for any such event, such as active shooter, because they know if they come on campus, there could be a potential for an individual to be able to stop the active shooting,” Ivey continued.

While campus carry is one part of the equation to creating a safer learning environment, another part is training personnel on how to respond to an active shooter event.  Something that Tech has also been working on.

“We actually do a hands-on part where we barricade doors, we show you how to go hands-on with weapons, how to defend yourself and also a truncated training on how to stop the bleed, so that way, all of our faculty, staff and students are prepared if an event does happen here on campus,” Ivey explained.

This common-sense approach to school safety was embraced by Tech student Cody Wheeler.

“I do feel safe knowing that there are people that will act upon,” said Wheeler. “If they have their concealed carry, and they see something going, they’ll feel the need to go step in.”

Cocks Not Glocks is an anti-campus carry organization. Following the rollout of the campus carry legislation in 2016, Cocks Not Glocks handed out dildos to fellow students to protest the law.  Get it, cocks not Glocks.  (Photo: Facebook/Cocks Not Glocks)

Not all students support allowing law-abiding and licensed concealed carriers to protect themselves at Tech, however. Cocks Not Glocks, an anti-campus carry organization, made headlines by passing out dildos to fellow students in protest of the law when it officially rolled out on Aug. 1, 2016.

GunsAmerica reached out to Cocks Not Glocks for comment.  We’re awaiting a response.  We were curious to see what these ladies had to say now that campus carry has been on the books for two years.  Have they changed their tune now that law enforcement has embraced it?  Or are they still opposed to hardening schools against crazed murderers?

In the meantime, for more information on what you need to know to carry on campus in the Lone Star State, check out this GunsAmerica article: “Texas Begins First Day of Campus Carry, Here’s What You Need to Know.”

Some of these ladies may change their tune if they get a cock they didn’t want, that could have been prevented by carrying a Glock. (For you slow ones out there, if they get raped sometime, they might rethink their position) (No pun intended)

A pitiful attempt to make a statement by foolish young ladies using a cheap rhyme on unrelated issues.

Thanks again for showing how morally and intellectually bankrupt the opposition has become.

Why do liberals believe bad things will never happen, so you should too?
A concealed firearm is insurance, ready when it’s needed.

      Mental illness.

So campus security says it’s a safer place, why isn’t this plastered all over the media instead of coeds with dildoes?

Well anyone who would be in a relationship with one of those in the Cocks not Glocks picture above, would probably need one of their free handouts anyway. Those who have spine enough to stand up for common sense wouldn’t need one.

I just toured Texas Tech with my rising HS senior daughter, while carrying concealed myself. I was expecting to see a concealed carry friendly campus, but was dismayed to see the Texas ‘no concealed carry allowed’ 30.06 policy warnings on the dormitory and fitness center entrances. If my daughter can’t concealed carry in and out of her dorm room, uh… I don’t see how this works.

Live off-campus after your freshman year and carry then. It doesn’t solve that first year, but it’s a whole lot better than most campuses.

If your daughter is just coming out of high school she is not old enough to carry a handgun in Texas anyway. As a Tech alum I can tell you most students lived off campus after their freshman year anyway.
