Texas Father Shoots Would-Be Carjackers, Saves Children Inside Vehicle

A Houston father stopped two suspected carjackers last month while his two small children and wife were inside the vehicle, KHOU11 reports.

The incident happened shortly after midnight on Monday, July 11, as the family was pulling up to their Harris County home in an SUV.

Footage of the harrowing encounter was caught on a nearby doorbell camera. It shows the two would-be carjackers pulling up behind the family’s SUV and opening the rear door.

That’s when the father, a law-abiding citizen armed with a handgun, engaged the threat.

“The adult male feared for the safety of his family and fired shots and struck both suspects,” said Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez on Twitter.

“The wife was driving and drove away after the shooting to get away from the suspects,” he added.

The father fired at least four shots and hit both suspects. While their names have not yet been released, police said they are both 16 years of age.

No one in the family was injured.

A little while later, a car picked the two suspects up and brought them to a local hospital. There they were deemed to be in “stable and in fair condition,” according to the sheriff.

The investigation is ongoing and presumably, charges will follow.

Gonzalez says that the father was within his rights to fire and as such will not be charged.

I hope it hurt! May pain be their constant companion.
If they took a dirt nap it’d save tax dollars but you take what you can get.

It was music to my ears to hear the cries and moans of these detestable perps as they awaited an undeserved rescue.

Some simple little things in life are so gratifying, like watching a video of two thugs preying on a family and having the situation turned on them and getting shot for it. These young thugs think what they are doing – pulling a ‘lick’, or whatever these BLM types call it – is their God given right to terrorize the public and take what doesn’t belong to them. What these idiots don’t seem to understand is this is not a joke and people are tired of being “prey” for these little @$$ Ho!%$ and have no problems taking you out of the gene pool. Unfortunately these two little pricks are still breathing.

This needs to happen a whole lot more.

  • Robert Powers August 5, 2022, 12:56 pm

The father needed to have more practice, ammo and fire enough rounds to neutralize the perps….permanently…instead of taxpayers giving them a future career in crime!

Suspects lived. Father needs better ammo.

I can only hope the screams I heard were those of the felons. Great parenting to have your young children up at midnight.

You are being very presumptuous regarding the children and the family were up at midnight. There could be many reasons that are none of your business. The man saved his family from what could have been very serious harm. Get real!

SuperG…I wholeheartedly agree with your comment about the screams coming from the felons, but the comment about great parenting…leaves a lot to be desired. Where do you or anyone else get off deciding what parents should be doing with their kids after midnight? You don’t know what they were doing or where they were coming from, or why. So, why not just leave it at good job on the dad engaging and hitting the car-jackers…

Alex, I would like to solve the puzzle please.

No one was hurt? What about the hearing of the two infants in the back seat? I bet it was LOUD in that car.

    • Stan d. Upnow August 5, 2022, 8:54 am

You are assuming the father fired from inside the vehicle. With the kids in the rear seat and the suspect(s) trying to enter through the rear door, it’s unlikely he fired from inside. If he did, everyone’s hearing would be subject to the muzzle blast, not just the kids. Small price to pay for stopping what could have been a life- threatening situation, wouldn’t you say?

    • sigman August 5, 2022, 10:29 am

Seriously, you’re worried about the kids hearing? Their hearing won’t matter when their dead bodies are found along the side of the road. Being 16 years old doesn’t make this scum any less dangerous.

I sure hope the two suspects recover so they can spend some time in prison. There’s a different social climate inside prison that will teach them respect for personal property. On the down side, they could come out with a completely new set of pronouns.
